Mets fan here. Grew up in Louisiana and didn't want to root for a Texas team. Paid a little attention to the Twins because my dad rooted for them. For a short while interested in the Giants because of their Shreveport affiliation. Moved to NY six years ago, gave it three years of hard thinkin', and went with the Mets. I could give you several other reasons, but I think it's simply put to say that I'm the new guy here, and the Mets are the new team, so they're for me. Let's Go Mets.

My father died one month before I was born. He was a Mets fan from when the Dodgers bailed and the Mets replaced.
As a child, I found a "Met's" pennant in some old boxes and I got the story
Been a Mets fan ever since....36 years or so now

Did your dad have Brooklyn/NY ties? Are you one of the 1/3 of all Americans who can trace their ancestry through Brooklyn?
The older I get, the cooler it seems to would have been if the Dodgers and Giants hadn't moved.

I would have liked to been around when they were all in the city so I can agree with that

Grew up in Houston when I was younger. Great grandfather, grandfather and father are all Astros fans. It's been a fun ride. I can't wait to move back some time next year so I can make more games.

I was a Dale Murphy/Braves and a Nolan Ryan/Rangers fan as a teenager, today they are still my favorite teams.

Braves and Cubs. Warning: the explanation will be heavy on CSB.
My dad was a Yankees fan, so I got a Yankees cap when young. It didn't stick.
Years later, Mom says we can save cereal box tops to send off for a free hat. Since I'm still a kid (and not the best sports mind), I want the one with the funny looking Indian, which would be Cleveland. But at the time, neither of us know which team that is, so we picked the Braves. Soon after was the worst to first season, and that stuck.
However, friends and family were big on Chicago (I know my cousins knew someone who played for the Cubs, can't remember his name), so I watched their games and grew to pull for them too.
It would have to be Braves first, Cubs second.
And of course I love watching the Zephyrs, even if I couldn't name half of them if I tried.

I am a Cleveland Indians fan. From BR. My father grew up in Cleveland. My grandparents lived in Cleveland so we would go up there every summer and see a few games.
I dont miss really many games at all.
I couldn't be a bigger fan even if the team was in my city so I dont see my existence as pathetic. I wish I had a team here, but I love the Indians and I am a damn good fan.

1992 exhibition game in the super dome Red Sox vs. Yankees. I was 9 years old and picked the Red Sox and have been a fan ever since. GFY I can cheer for who the hell I want and I didn't jump on the bandwagon in 2004.

I grew up a braves fan, and my father knew Lonnie smith personally. We'd get tickets from him every once in a while when they were in Houston, half the distance compared to Atlanta.
I've been a red sox fan for a few years, for two different reasons. My brother lives in Brookline, and whenever I go visit, I always take in a series. I played ball with some of the guys that are currently on the roster, before they were in the bigs, and I was close to a minor league deal with them before I blew out my shoulder.
FWIW, my brother moved there before the first world series title, and my first game at Fenway was before then also.

I like the Braves in the 80s and 90s due to exposure. I couldn't really care less now. I actually pull for the Padres I guess since I lived there for awhile.

Texas Rangers, born and raised in BR but dad is a huge Rangers fan and ever since I can remember baseball I can remember going see a ton of Rangers games every year

If we had the TV coverage that we have now back in the 80's and 90's I probably would have been a Giants fan due to growing up with their AA farm team. Never got into the Rangers either. Astros were the team I actually went to somewhat regularly. Now it helps that I live within 2 or 3 miles of MMP.

1998, at 8 years old, caught a couple Yankee games @ Yankee Stadium, then saw that same team win the WS, been a fan since. Have caught several series since then, some in NYC, others elsewhere.
Great-grandmother loved the Braves, I'd root for them in the NL, as a kid, until I went to Wrigley a few years ago for the first time. The Cubs are my NL team, I root for them over everyone except for my Yankees.
The way I see it, as a metaphor-the Braves were the first girl I dated, the Yankees were my first love and who I married, I've got an ongoing affair with the Cubs.

I'm an LSU student who grew up in the Philly suburbs, family moved to Baltimore when I was 16. Still only about 2 and a half hours from the CBP, well worth the trip.
Huge Phillies fan, already made it to three games in the time I've been home. Last year when I posted in ATL threads during the Phillies series they'd get all mad and call me a bandwagon fan. I'd be willing to bet I've been to at least 75 Phillies games over my lifetime.
On an unrelated note, Phillies are playing at Camden Yards this year.

When I was growing up, the only two teams we could get on cable were the Cubs and the Braves. All the rednecks around me were diehard Braves fans, so I rooted for the Cubs. My Dad grew up a Cardinals fan, because when he was a boy, they were the only team they could hear on the radio.

Thanks for finally beating the Dodgers, btw.
The game 2 nights ago when we blew a 6-1 lead in the 7th and then a 7-6 lead in the 9th was one of the most depressing games I've watched in a long time. frick the Dodgers.
