Good to see a new face into a Top 25 poll and representing for the state. Congrats to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs for sliding into #22 in the D1 Baseball poll.

57 isn't bad. Move to the mid-40s and you're right around an at large possibility with a good record. The problem is only having 4 games against the RPI Top-100 (2-2); for comparisons sake, the Cajuns have 14 against RPI Top-100 (6-8).

Gotta make sure you win those games at home, especially against lower RPI teams. Those home losses will kill you as RPI is weighted. A home loss is weighted 1.3x compared to a road loss which is weighted 0.7x.

Conversely, going get those road wins help you. You have a big time 4-game stretch on the road coming up with 3 at UTSA and 1 at LSU. All of those are top-100 teams as of now.

We also have Little Rock coming Wednesday, so thats another Top-100 rpi team to play.

I’m picturing a bubble like last year

If it’s not a blood bath during the conference tournaments then great but have to take that mindset.

57 is pretty bad considering we have 22 wins

We just don’t have the schedule we had last year right now unfortunately.

That southern miss series in Hattiesburg is going to be astronomically big

I really question the scheduling in Ruston for all the major sports. Basketball schedule is down right pathetic.

Basketball had major issues getting OOC D1 teams to agree to a game during the last two years of Mike White and Konkols first few years.

Cajuns were up 8-3 in the 8th and lost 9-8. Things are not great.

Beating LSU twice will matter more than finishing third in their conference, if that's what you mean

Teams won’t play us in basketball. They see it as a lose-lose. If they win, nobody cares. If they lose, they lost to a Conference USA school. We had the ability to hang with just about anyone in the country up until a couple years ago, so teams said frick that and scheduled rent-a-wins.

The teams that did schedule us sometimes regretted it... see: Oklahoma and Ohio State. Syracuse was almost in that category but escaped with a buzzer beater

What’s crazy is that if the tournament was tomorrow we wouldn’t get an at large

Because if the season ended tomorrow you'd get the auto-bid out of Conference USA.

If you weren’t so busy being a smartass you might realize the regular season champion doesn’t get an at large bid

So no we wouldn’t

Tech loses to Little Rock 2-1 (again), this time in regulation. We lead 1-0 before giving up the lead late (AGAIN).
