Im a teacher/coach and have been coaching for a handful of years. Last couple of years have been an awful due to Athletic Department culture and have made me lose my love for coaching and the sport.
Should I call it quits, switch schools and continue, or take a year off and see if I miss it?

Admins: Can move to the OT if that would be a better spot

If this is true, then changing schools/programs is the answer.

Soccer coaches get no respect in the South.

Change sports?

Do you like to "coach" or "teach" if so suck it up another year?

Don’t use your passion to be a means to your ends.

If you’re passionate about coaching and don’t really want to teach then you must separate the two.

If you need to teach to make ends, then either get another job and focus coaching full time or quit coaching where you teach.

I love being in the classroom and love coaching as well. I would say I enjoy them equally. I want to continue teaching, just deciding if I want to just teach or transfer and try to find the love for the game again at another school

Just quit.
If you are asking TD for career advice, you already have.

There you go. When i said coach and teach, I was using them the same. I wouldnt of cared about the class room when i started college to teach a lesson and coach a sport as a career. All i woulda cared about was sports, and i resented my educators for allowing that. Therefore, i knew i should move on.

Oddly enough, I’m in a similar situation at school. The head of our program is getting dementia I think. Myself and the other assistant do all of the work, recruiting, etc. He doesn’t know the name of his own students. When he forgets things, he assumes it’s because we didn’t properly inform him.

It’s a disaster, and apparently one of the only ways he can be removed is if I make a formal complaint to the district admin.
