With their win over Middle Tennessee State tonight. Thank goodness there's not better SEC teams this year or we might of been playing them and watch Fenroy and Desormeaux go wild on our defense.

Yes..this is horrible. I go to ULL, so now I will hear all day tom how surperior ULL is and how they are on LSU's level now. (When they won 4 games in a row this year..the students were saying they should be moved to Confrence USA)

ULL is not going to the indy bowl this year. Tech has already accepted an invite, and the other spot is likely going to Memphis or NC State with a remote chance of ND.

The Indy bowl is obligated to take a Sun Belt team if an SEC/Big12 team can't qualify.

The Sun Belt Conference previously only had tie-ins with the New Orleans Bowl for their conference winner, but on Monday at Sun Belt Media Days in New Orleans, the conference announced that the Sun Belt now has relationships with the PapaJohns.com Bowl in Birmingham at Legion Field, the PetroSun Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana and a new bowl called the St. Petersburg Bowl in St. Petersburg.

With the three new bowls if one of the conferences that is contractually obligated to send a team to one of those bowls fails to produce enough bowl-eligible teams, then the bowls would then take a Sun Belt eligible team before looking for an at-large addition.

The contract doesn't apply to a 6-6 sunbelt team, such as ULL this year:

"Despite a contingency agreement with the Sun Belt Conference, it doesn't appear that league will have a team in Shreveport.

"I think it was clarified to everybody today that the contingency agreements will only guarantee placement of a seven-win team," Bergeron said. "They're not in effect for a six-win team."

The Sun Belt has just one seven-win team (Troy at 7-4) and only one more, Arkansas State (6-5) that could get to seven wins.

The I-Bowl has the third pick of Sun Belt teams.

"We could, as an option, take a six-win Sun Belt team, but we would not be required to take a Sun Belt team," Bergeron said."

Might be the worst I-Bowl ever. I wouldn't know who to root for?

ULL still sucks, I honestly think McNeese could beat them regularly.

Funny they never mentioned anything about it being a 7-win team until now. The bowls never want Sun Belt teams.

It was mentioned on a sports talk show yesterday, I believe, that there are so many 7-5 teams that they prob would'nt take a 6-6 Sun Belt team.

Sunbelt champion is supposed to go to New Orleans Bowl. But apparently, the conference released Troy from the bowl should they clinch the conference. That frees Troy to go to the Papajohns Bowl in Birminhgam, Al. If that happens, could be ULL, but don't think the bowl would want a ULL-Southern Miss rematch.

ULL is not going to the indy bowl. They are going to the new orleans bowl to face southern miss. espn radio reported that, now that the sunbelt received three bowl chances, that troy (the champ) was going to play in the bowl in alabama (which is one of the three bowls given to the sun belt. not sure the name of it).

Ladd-Peebles in Mobile hosts the GMAC bowl, which may be the one you're talking about.

I'd go if it were Troy against a decent MAC team like Central Michigan.

Ladd-Peebles itself is a nasty stadium, but Mobile people are good people, and it's actually a real good time (based on my Senior Bowl fandom there).

ULL will probable be left out of a bowl. LATech will be going to the Independence Bowl, but will play NCS, Memphis or Notre Dame (which I doubt). The bowls want people in the stands, ULL want provide that.
