If you give a 10 year show cause to Harbaugh it means he knew or the school had a lack of control. Why else give him a show cause? And if the HC knew they were cheating, why would the rest of the punishment be so insignificant?
Apparently it's coming out between noon-1 pm tomorrow officially. I assume there will be more "leaks" as the next 30 hours unfolds

I don't think scholarship reductions are as much of a penalty anymore in the transfer portal era.
Less need to have a bunch of underclassmen on scholarship while they're 4th on the depth chart and still working to develop them to be a contributor later. Now top tier teams just go fill their needs via the transfer portal instead of having to develop younger talent in house.
Anything short of postseason bans is just a slap on the wrist.

I think that's kind of the stance on if it's significant or not. Vacating wins/postseason bans is serious, anything else is meh

It is basically the only punishment that is meaningful for a program like Michigan. The have millionaires and billionaires as boosters, their fan base is composed of drooling morons who will die for the football program, its alumni act like they are God's gift to us. Not being on TV hurts them the most.
If you truly despise Michigan football then you are willing to make the sacrifice of your favorite team not being on tv when they play Michigan. I know the TV partners will be unhappy, there's no other meaningful way to punish a program for cheating and breaking the rules. With transfers and money offered to players scholarship reductions and recruiting visit reductions are not as effective. No live TV for a year!
