Stupid and according to the site Louisiana not even the home team. Doesn’t seem like much of an advantage to be undefeated. Yes one less game but in this bracket Texas got a bye and has played same number of games as Louisiana
What an idiotic format.

They had an odd number of teams and the host (Texas East which was from a Waco Suburb) gets the bye but LA should certainly be the home team in the Championship.

Texas East is not the Waco suburb team.
Texas East is Lamar Little League which is a suburb of Houston.

sorry Midway was Texas West, doesn't change the reason for the odd number of teams and the bye. Either way the undefeated team should be the home team in the final game.

East bank should have the advantage with available pitching given they were off Monday.

Colorado used to be in the SW region and was allowed to change to a different region this year, creating the bye. Seems like a slight national restructuring by LL could have created better balance rather than giving one team an advantage. That advantage is potentially amplified with the pitch count rules.
The Texas East team would have a serious pitching challenge today without the bye since they had to come through the losers bracket. Both teams in the championship game today have played the same number of games, although the Kenner team was off yesterday.

the regions for this absolutely suck now and the tournament structures are horrible in an association where pitch count and pitcher availability is basically the entire game.
there are like 5 regions that are just absolutely dogshit with only 4 teams and then you have the southwest and southeast that are complete monsters.
the west is only 4 teams, but at least 3 of them are gonna be really good.
apparently it is done by little league participation? that would make sense as participation in LL specifically in the southeast and southwest is going to be much lower than the east coast and north east. unfortunately the part where it doesnt make sense is that those teams all suck, but like 4 of them get to go to the LLWS.
ohio is going to go through the same thing that lousiana is. they did not get a BYE and are 3-0 and into the finals. illinois can make the finals at 2-1 and only have to win once (after losing to ohio 11-1) to win the regional. so dumb.

Does anyone know if the district and state tournaments are true double elimination or this format? My guess is the state and district are true double and this format is because of TV and ESPN not wanting a game that doesn’t produce an “outcome”. Basically they don’t care what’s fair to the kinds.
