WM looks like midgets out there. This has to be the smallest team I have ever seen them field. It's also pretty evident that they lack team speed. Looks like the glory days of WM are gone and now they are will just be an average one or two win playoff team. Arledge is a super nice guy but not head coach material.....

Too early to make that call. My junior year we lost twice and still won state. They just have to get better every week and see what happens.

To be honest, Madison Central had some giants out there on the field.
WM has had average size players & average talent ever since Shows has been there.

Sure WM has had some big guys and has had some outstanding talent over the years BUT the big difference has always been coaching.

Shows was able to take average players and coach them up to be over-achievers, season after season.
No coach in HS football has done more with less than Shows was able to.

The Shows era at WM is over and it was a golden era for WM and the fans. It was a great ride & I was glad to be able to witness it.

But its now time for the WM program to start looking ahead. Coach Arledge is no doubt a great defensive mind and was one of the biggest reasons for WMs success for the last 20 seasons. He is a great person and a great family man as well.

The fundamentals for greatmess for WM are still there. Shows and Arledge built a dynasty at WM.
I think it is time for WM to swallow some pride and start thinking about the next 20 years.

I am thinking Scott Stone.

I agree that it is early but the size and speed factor are concerning. The really good teams such as Neville and MC that they have played have noticeable speed and size advantage.

Comeaux came back from a 14-0 deficit to beat Cecilia 28-20. Hunter Register had a couple huge special team returns and an interception to ice the game for Comeaux. Raymond Calais, Jr had over 200 rushing yards for Cecilia.

Davidson at Acadiana completely nullifies this statement. Look at the D-1 recruits just oozing out of WM in the past 20 years. Davidson has had 3 major D-1 recruits in his tenor at Acadiana. 3.

How many 'major D-1' recruits has WM had over the last 20 years? Pobably less than 10. I can think of just a few. Whitworth, Mingo, James..

Mid majors are a different breed.

Plus , how many years has Davidson been HC at Acadiana? 8 years?

Not really a good comparison

WM is easily one of the most physically talented high schools in all of Louisiana. No disrespect for Shows and his legacy, he turned that entire town around, but you can't sit hear and tell me that the Rebels won with scrubs. I've seen these guys, I've played against these guys. West Monroe has had more than their fare share of freak athletes.

one score I absolutely couldn't believe when I heard it... Riverdale 41 Hannan 0. I would have thought it would be the other way around after what I saw in our jamboree. Riverdale looked putrid and Hannan looked great but 7 days later it must have reversed.

If I was a WM fan I wouldn't be looking to change coaches after a loss considering your stud QB is out for the year and I believe he was out all of last year as well.
