Oh the odds of either team winning are slim I know. Just the fact it’s even a possibility is insane.

Game was at Benton. Who operates the clock in the playoffs? Home team or neutral operator?
Whatever association had the game brings their own crew including the clock operators.

Should have been 40 seconds with both the game clock and play clock starting on the ready.
Not if there was a foul on offense or the game clock started on snap

Was there sufficient time on the play clock to just let the clock run out? If they didn’t snap it at 1 second, would it have been a delay of game? And even if it would have been a delay, why not take it and then do a QB sneak/fall forward?

Once the knee hits the ground on 4th the clock stops so if the QB was even a little quick on the knee it would stop the clock for a change of possession.

LINK

Here’s a link to the highlights of the Denham-Benton game last night. Of course we can’t see the scoreboard or play clock in the video, but you see the play with the IW and holding calls, the knee on 4th down, and Denham’s game winning kick.

They should’ve taken the delay but decided to snap it at 1 second and then accidentally snapped it at 3-4 seconds is what it sounded like. I think I heard something about the play clock being hard to see because students were about to rush the field too.

Thanks for the link. Any chance someone has a link to the Hudl video?

If the injury happened during the play with the holding & IW, then the defense gets to elect to have the clock start on the snap, in which case the 25 second play clock would have been correct.

None of that info was in the original timeline of events. That's why it is so hard to say what should have happened without actually being there. Something that doesn't seem to be important but is gets left out.

Yes the offensive holding penalty was on the inadvertent whistle play. I think the Benton QB took a quick knee not realizing the clock stops as soon as he takes a knee.

West Monroe faithful say this every year. Ruston is the new king of North La football. West Monroe is way behind Ruston and Neville.

Ruston and Neville have beaten WM once each in the past 25+ years and now WM is way behind?
Weird conclusion.
You may be right but I’d wait to see if they can put together multiple wins before being so confident.

Catholic's streaming sucks... It keeps locking up...

They don't even have instant replay...

I turned the sound off when the Catholic play by play guy started bragging about their chain gang being the best in the state..

It's worse than listening to John Curtis' game play by play.

How is Rummel's streaming and broadcast crew

I believe Ruston has to travel to Denham Springs now, Benton would have come to Ruston.

I'm a Ruston grad and agree with everything you said. Ruston needs to also show more in the playoffs. We habitually have good teams that choke it out in the playoffs. Neville has more to brag about since the 2000s than we even do and that pains me to type it out.

Ouachita came ready to play, props to them. Ruston's depth proved too much, R will also have an even better D next year as most of these players, I think maybe all on the dline, are coming back. That QB for Ouachita kept our dline at bay, maybe the worst performance I've seen from a pass rush standpoint from our Dline but they were just trying to contain him. We did a good job, especially in the 2nd half of containing RB from Ouachita, young man is really good.

And I mean no disrespect with that post. Ruston has a great team and seems to have found the right staff to get them back in the hunt every year. And yes, WM has definitely had some lean years recently, at least by WM standards. But the cupboard is by no means bare. Finding the right guy to take over when Arledge retires is going to a huge decision.

WM will still be a contender every year, too much talent year in and year out. You're right, get the right coach in there and can do another Don Shows era I hope not though Lots of respect for WM. WM, Ouachita (hoping to make a comeback for their program, and Ruston being good, is all great for N. La football and the fans. Same for Neville

I don't understand the playoff traveling part. I'm sure it's been discussed quite a bit on here. Ruston #1 has to travel to #9 Denham Springs now.

1st round: highest seed hosts

2nd round:
Team that received first round bye automatically hosts
if two home teams win, highest seed hosts
If a road and home team win, road team hosts
If two road teams win, highest seed hosts

3rd:
(Teams with first round bye are treated as having had two home games)
Team that has traveled most hosts
If that’s tied the team that traveled most recent hosts
If both are tied higher seed hosts

Semifinal: higher seed hosts (I think)
