Yes, It went to 3rd overtime where BM won. Jesuit missed a FG to win it in 2nd overtime.

Officiating must have been severely one sided for him to be saying that. He’s never said anything about refs after a game from what I’ve heard

WM coach on the radio broadcast saying refs werent going to allow them to win the game

So, let’s be real about this? If we are talking about a single call or play that completely changed the outcome and/or potential outcome - got it.

From what it sounds like? WM was getting called for penalties left and right. At some point that is on the coaches to not pull the guys in and tell them to be ultra careful and give the refs no reason.

What was the final score of the Zachary game?

I think their gripe is that every time WM got a stop the refs bailed Zachary out. Like literally every single time

ETA: that’s not what I’m saying. I was at a different game. That’s just what I gathered from the radio

2nd OT WM FG good, 34-31 Zachary with ball to win it

Sounds like 37-34, with Zachary scoring a TD on the second possession of OT and no need for a XP.

Yeah, every 3rd or 4th down stop there was a flag it seemed. Then some phantom personal foul call on WM after their QB got his helmet ripped off

Coach Arledge is ripping them, said it’s the worst officiated game of his career

With the domination of the overall game by WM (again, just reading), it doesn’t sound like that would be the case. Those there can expound further - but there apparently was an iffy PI call that didn’t go Zachary’s way at the end of regulation (and even Z fans said it was a good no call).

Either way, it’s on the coaches to get their players on point with what the refs are calling (even if unfair) unless it’s a single play in a major moment that is miss called.

I do know for a fact Zachary beat WM on a blatant missed/purposely uncalled block in the back and hold in the state title game a few years ago because I watched it live.

Don Shows would be appalled at Jerry Arledge’s lack of adjustments during the game and his public whining post-game.

Glad he didn’t have to witness it.

That play will live in infamy….it was bad. Lots of bitterness in WM when it comes to Zachary and officiating

If they’re gonna throw a phantom flag on every key play what are they supposed to do about that?

I still blame Manale for this. He iced his own kicker and acted like he had no faith in Aiden (my opinion only.) And I don’t hold it against him.

But when you have a high 4*-5* kicker; you send him out there like Sean Payton did and tell him to boot it directly in the middle of the posts.

frick sending the offense out there first…

I don’t even like WM. Went to a rival HS but kinda pull for everyone in the area now except for Neville

Wm had a great game plan getting physical with Zachary receivers .

The pass rush was getting there . When Zachary got a little time the holds became obvious . The last pi was negligible.

I will say those kids played their hearts out.

All the West Monroe guys I talked to said the officiating was terrible but can’t tell if they are just salty or what.

I didn’t live in Louisiana the last time Zachary won a state title. I wasn’t at the game tonight, I have two boys about a decade away from me having a dog in that fight.

I have no idea how bad the officiating is/was. I am simply pointing out as someone who has coached some football at the HS level in FL what coaches should do there. That does NOT mean they weren’t screwed, just at some point you tell the boys to not be in a position to be screwed. Phantom calls are different, of course. Especially in what sounds like a frickery in the state championship game a few years ago.
