Country Day is extremely well coached. Surprising that Chango hasn’t been offered a bigger job

Great games in all classifications. Sterlington vs Union and Neville vs Lakeshore are the big ones in north la. Nobody giving Ruston a chance vs WM.

Btw after last weeks game there were some harsh accusations against acadiana high, about vandalism to the denham springs facility. The coaches were with the players the entire time right up to getting on the bus and those claims are absolutely not true. If it was vandalized it was after acadiana left. Like pretty much every high school program out there these coaches are high character people and absolutely would not stand for it. If anything did happen they would be the first to alert people (and the first to kick the kids off the damn team).

Lafayette Christian is the only team that's capable of beating Lab. Likely, won't happen

You do realize that OCS lead the entire game last week and Lab scored on a long pass with 12 seconds left to win right? OCS wasn’t even as good as they normally are this year.

Their offense isnt great. Defense is great, and Scott seems to have them playing better defense since 2015, but their offense just doest satisfy.

Their lack of depth will also hurt them against WM.

Their special teams was beyond bad last time, but assume it has been straightened out.

I see WM winning 28-7 scoring late to shut it down if they indeed play again. Ehret will have to turn them over to have any chance.

Really don’t see acadiana keeping it within 21 for this one.

Evangel, Bastrop, Lakeshore, Warren Easton, West St. John, and N. Webster have long trips this week.

Is Newman better this year or were they better last year?

Who? Zachary?

Well, Zachary should be heavily favored. They return 6 on defense and 7 on offense, but most played significantly last year that didnt start.

Problem with zachary is they cant stay healthy. Will bite then in the arse here in the next couple weeks as competition stiffens.

#13 Ruston at #2 West Monroe

Two district foes go at it again on Friday night at Rebel Stadium. WM wins earlier in the year 45-21 at Ruston. Ruston passed the ball extensively last game, over 300 passing yards and around 36 passing attempts.
Ruston will most likely be without their standout TE Ray Parker, who is nursing a bone-bruise.
Ruston will have to lean heavily on their SR QB Eric Outley who a capable dual-threat QB.

WM will be without the services of their talented RB Cam Wright, who is nursing a foot sprain. WM has a stable of good RBs in reserve and several good receivers.
Add into that mix the talented WM quarter-back, Garrett Kahman, who is flying under the recruiting radar.
Kahman runs the option as good as any QB West Monroe in the past and is a very accurate passer who can land the ball on a dime.

Rain is in the forecast for Friday night at Rebel stadium and could be a major factor. WM has artificial turf so field conditions will not be factor but rain will make the football slick and could turn the game into a low scoring event.

Ruston has not beat WM in a long long time, since the early 1990s. Ruston is seeing a revival of its storied football program and has the potential to give WM lots of problems.

WMs O-Line is playing good as they have ever had and is giving the RBs nice holes to run through and giving WMs QB good time in the pocket.

WMs defense is playing vintage West Monroe defense. Hard hitting, intense swarming defense with good depth at just about every position, especially on the defensive line.

It is hard to beat WM at Rebel Stadium. WM wins by at least 2 TDs.

1990 to be exact. Plus WM has won 3-4 times in the playoffs as well. 93, 98, and 99 definitely. Seems like there might have been 1 other playoff loss for them as well.

Wow, that is almost unbelievable.

Think of some the great players Ruston has had since that time, Jack Hunt, Patrick Ramsey, Kyle Williams, and several others who made the NFL.

I hate streaks like that, somewhere its gotta end.

If STM is fortunate enough to play UHigh in finals, I would be shocked if the Cougars didn't put 35 on them. Might not win, but they will score.

#20 East Ascension at #10 John Ehret

EA is the 5A dark horse team this year.

Can they pull off the upset and prove they win a big game?
Possibly, however John Ehret is at home and has too many weapons in its arsenal. John Ehret wins by at least 10.

quote:

#12 Zachary at #19 Acadiana

There is some bad blood between these two teams that just do not like each other. The Wreckin Rams has slipped a few notches since the great coach Ted Davidson has stepped down as head coach.

Although Acadiana has the home field advantage and the veer offense, Zachary gets a good test but will prove too much.

Zachary wins by 2 TDs

quote:

#15 Terrebonne at #7 Destrehan

Desty plays one of their district rivals again, with Destrehan winning the first match-up easily.

John Emery and the Wildcats will repeat the earlier season match-up.

Wildcats by at least 2 TDs

quote:

#8 Evangel at #1 John Curtis

John Curtis, what else can you say? One of the nations most successful high school football programs.

Evangel is still a very good team but no where as elite as they were just a few years ago.

JC powers by Evangel.

#22 Bastrop at #5 Karr

#22 Bastrop at #5 Karr

Bastrop has been a surprise team this. Unfortunately for the Rams from Morehouse parish, they take the long trip to NOLA and face the vaunted Karr Cougars.

Basketball season starts Saturday for the Strop City Rams.

quote:

#21 Lakeshore at #18 Neville

Neville has the home field advantage and has a good QB in Brister.
Not too many are giving the Tigers of Neville a chance but the could prove to be a good test for Lakeshore.

Don't sleep on Neville as the have some very good coaching and some quality players.

Unfortunately for Neville, Lakeshore will be too much for them

Lakeshore by at least 1 TD

quote:

#54 Union Parish at #64 Sterlington

Sterlington got the win a few weeks ago over Union Parish, 31-20

Two evenly matched teams that is turning into a good rivalry.

This would be a great game to watch and could be a barn-burner.

Too close to call but gonna have to go with Sterlington by a FG.

quote:

#174 Oberlin at #48 Oak Grove

Oak Grove is seeing a resurgence in their program and is once again a powerhouse in 1A

OG all over Oberlin by at least 3 TDs

quote:

#137 Delhi at #71 Haynesville

The Haynesville Tornados continue their legendary winning tradition and looks to be strong again this season.

Haynesville their district matchup against Delhi in a close game, 41-38

Looks to be another barn-burner game and would be a great game to watch.

OG wins another tight game by a FG.
