I hope all the privates pull out and take some publics with them. This is straight up bullshite. The season will be more exciting than the playoffs
this very well could be the last year with the LHSAA with it the way we know it.
saving grace could be... revamping of a couple of rules.. especially the parish wide home attendance zones...
the rule about financial aid auditing is useless.. the biggest recruiting doesn't come from schools. it comes from overzealous parents.

no they are going to wait until just before the playoffs.. so the only choice is to get an injunction to go back to the old way.

sweet, lets just give out trophies to everyone

16 team playoffs n a 10 team playoff for your biggest classification. Henderson had to look at this and say wtf! Why not combine 4a and 5a those two are the most closely related as far as being competitive? This is laughable. So you have to win 2 games to get to the Dome?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: require kids that dont want to go to public schools to attend the nearest private school. Tons of kids pass up a whole bunch of private schools on their way to Curtis every morning. I always laughed at all the kids in St Charles Parish not wanting to attend Hahnville or Destrehan driving all the way to Rummel or Curtis when St Charles Catholic is far closer. Still insist upon going to Curtis? Fine, but you have to be granted an exemption for justifiable reasons. There are very few justifiable reasons for a kid to drive to Curtis from the north shore every day.
After all, its about education, right?

FWIW.. .the way to save the LHSAA... and make the playing field more level....
1. Use a formula to count "select school" enrollment differently. For Example... if Promised Land Academy is a 2a select enrollment school - ad 15% to their enrollment... if that makes them 3a.. so be it.. if not... move along.. bigger the school bigger the add...
2. open attendance zones.. this will help the better public school.. hurt the weaker once(academically and athletically
3. Allow schools to play up as high as they want or play up in certain sports only... watch how fast that will get shot down in jan....
4. amend the hold back rule and age cut off date.
again.. if over zealous parents or supporters of a school have the means.. their is no way to prove they are recruiting... let that one go.... that is not as big of a problem as people think...

It is about parent choice.. If I lived in NO.. my kid would drive past a lot of schools to go to Jesuit... but If I lived on the WB.. shaw....

Funny. NOLA has one of the best public charter schools in the country. Lusher is making it happen.
There are enough quality private schools in the city that this shouldn't be a huge deal. You wouldn't be the person I'm talking about anyways. I'm talking about kids living in Mandeville going to Curtis. Kids living in Hahnville going to Rummel.

I believe the difference in the smallest 3A and biggest 4A is closer than the smallest 4A and the biggest 5A. That is why they combined 3A and 4A.

We can't let common sense and sound logic dictate decisions.

There are kids that live in Slidell that go to St Aug and BM, I know for sure. It's about parental choice in the end.

I see another problem with this... there won't be as much game tape for select school kids since I presume the regular season is 10 games still for everybody. select schools lose a playoff game or two which means less chances to get scouted.
it won't affect the fournettes of the world but his teammates who are borderline D1 guys would lose out

you only get one chance to play HS football... why waste it on a bad team?

who is going to "require" parents to send their kids to a certain private school when they are paying for it? The LHSAA? How can the LHSAA require parents to send their kids to a specific private school? The LHSAA cant even "require" anyone to send their kid to the local public school. Now you want them to enforce where you send your kid to private school?
I spoke to some people from Tennessee on vacation two weeks ago. we talked about the Tenn HS playoffs and the LHSAA. They said the playoffs in Tenn are now a joke, football participation in some areas of the state is way down, kids are going more and more to basketball and baseball.

If they want to play athletics, why can't they?
Or can we just call it what it is?
