Whether it’s moved to Spring, moved back a month, or just not played, I don’t know, but there’s no way HS football is being played regularly. Phase 3 on July 24th seems really, really far off.

some schools and school systems may not have the resources or players to field teams. I would expect a shorter season.

Does Louisiana need to be in Phase 3 or 4 before starting football?

the kids haven’t gone anywhere

The main sticking point will be the protocols every individual school has for their home games. I would imagine 5A would want theirs to be different than the lower classifications

If fans aren’t allowed, some districts will be looking for sponsors to cover costs and their expected revenue

A big question is transportation. You're talking four or five buses to transport a team instead of two. Cost prohibitive or not practical at all for a lot of districts.

just have the kids wear masks so they don’t have to socially distance

frick over the kids!!!!

Yeah, frick 'em.

Seriously I hate it for them. My youngest son will be a junior this year and he was looking at some playing time as the season progressed on as his knee will be rehabbed by then. A lot of the kids are very pissed as are the coaches.....the coaches seem to be the only teachers who give a shite about the kids.

I think you are correct.

I don’t see any high school football this fall....

....and now, I seriously question if LSU, La Tech and the rest of the state’s college football programs take the field.

No but I’m some schools and systems if kids are not physically attending they are not eligible. Also some parents don’t want their kids back in school any time soon

Uh some lower classifications out draw many 5a......

You need to get out of nola more

Some nerd in his basement is presently working on a program of a virtual high school football season. Don't laugh.

This is from a meeting last week

quote:

Notes from the LHSAA football advisory committee meeting this afternoon:

-Mr Bonine is speaking in front of the state legislature on Monday to give update and will try to get a feel on the governor’s next move; most think he will likely extend phase 2 for at least 21 days because of the high numbers of cases

-BESE board is meeting on Tuesday to ratify Covid guidelines into mandates

-Mr Bonine stressed that we will still have all sports; start dates may just be pushed back

-if we are further delayed, there will likely be modifications made to Phase 3 to allow shoulder pads to be used to hit sleds, tackle dummies, tackle wheels, hit sleds, do 7 on 7 to aid heat acclimation, and allow other sports more leniency

-even if fall season gets pushed back to mid-September, there are still openings to play in Superdome after Christmas, 2nd, or 3rd week in January; other seasons can be adjusted if needed

-if Covid situation persists or worsens, all options are still on table to flip fall sports to spring and sprint sports to fall OR fall to winter, spring to fall, winter to spring (decisions will be made as late as possible because pandemic situation constantly changes, so waiting for most complete information allows best decision)

-governor announces phase decision on 7/20; Phase 2 or Phase 3 modifications/changes that will allow more flexibility with sports will be announced on 7/25

-next advisory meeting is 7/16 after Mr Bonine meets with legislature to start firming up plans
