they'll probably be with Karr, LW, Belle Chasse, and Helen Cox...

East bank has Easton, Carver, Kennedy, McMain, Lusher, Ben Franklin, and Livingston Collegiate in 4A

Yeah it would suck for a few schools.

Yulman has been a pretty awesome playing venue. Wish they'd look at that.

What's the 3A/4A top cutoff? And Livingston has a high school now?

I'm sure someone in the 70s thought John Curtis was a flash in the pan too lol...

When a school, particularly a select one, decides they're gonna be that good at football, they usually become that good and stay that good.

Well, you may be mistaken, Owl.
Look just in the last couple pages. Archbishop Shaw "decided" YEARS ago to be good. How is that working out for them now? They are not good, and will drop in class leaving the Catholic League after being a member since the school opened.

In one sense, nicely, as they've built an on-campus stadium after 56 years in existence.

But look at how small the entire school has become. Look at how small their band is. I can clearly remember when they had a marching band of 300 strong marching in parades. Now? It takes all the band, auxiliary AND cheerleaders to spell out S H A W on the football field.

So, yes, they decided and did not stay that good.

Not really shaw's fault though...... It's also changing social demographics on the westbank... and a higher % of kids from WB that do go to catholic/private schools are crossing the river now because it's so easy.

back in 2001 I bet there were ZERO players from the WB at rummel....

and it should be noted that after the events in the spring of 2002.... they simply did not "try" to be good again.. not remotely like they had been

Demographics and school options much different now. New coaching staff, new administration, and still dealing with fallout from Hank. Shaw isn't bad now because they decided to suck at football. This is one of the smallest enrollments they've had in the past 40 years.

Ghost the hank fallout was over when they went to dome twice....

The residual demographic changes after Katrina are what's killing them

Some schools do decide to suck at football. Others just happen to play teams they couldn't beat even if they decided they want to

Talking about from an administrative standpoint on that one, not athletic.

I am wondering how long Country Day's run will last. Their current football success has to be killing some of their stakeholders.

Interesting numbers. Just for conversation, the cutoff for 6A in Texas is 2150. There are about 250 schools in 6A.

This. When they say their football is better, what they're really saying, is their schools are bigger.

So you mean to tell me at one time Shaw’s marching band was as big as LSU’s... Sorry my man, but I have a hard time believing that, and I don’t ever remember Shaw having a bigger band than St Aug..

LSU has 325 in their band...

From The Golden Band’s web page...

quote:

The LSU Tiger Marching Band is the largest and most visible single organization on campus with a closed membership of 325 students.
