It's very hard to beat a team twice in one year......

Central would have had a tough time w catholic...
Catholic was fortunate vs Mandy last time...

Karr st aug....may have to do to that one.....

Mandeville peaks at the right time every year. They start to turn the corner around week 6. By the time the playoffs hit, Lecompte is hard to beat...especially twice.

What do y'all want me to say? We got beat. Plain and simple. They were clearly the better team 8 minutes into the game. Our District is over-rated. Besides beating Catholic and STM, we really didn't have another big win.

That's what they wanted

Catholic and Mandeville should be a shootout. Probably like a 35-30 game with a strong possibility of a team scoring 40. It may sound cliche but the team who makes the big play on defense and special teams will win the game (interception or Punt/Kickoff return for TD). Which could be in Catholics favor with Guice returning kicks. Overall should be a great game though

I'm really excited to see the outcome of the Catholic vs. Mande game. I completely agree that it will be a shoot out. At the end of it all though i think Catholic will come away with a win, but choke in the semis as usual...

Catholic is your super bowl. You blow your load every year vs them and collapse come playoff time.

The first part is right. While Central will fight at the drop of a hat during the Denham game beating Catholic is the biggest game of the year.

However I don't think they collapse in the playoffs. Last year they beat the #1 seed. They went to the semis two years before that. This year a very hot Mandeville team happen to catch them early n the playoffs.

I think with there's a reason a BR area team has only made one trip to the dome ever in the highest classification...the number of quality smaller class(3A and below) private schools are just too attractive to parents out there.

I have several other theories that would be off topic but I think to say that Central collapses is unfair.

Are you sure Stephen A Smith wasn't the guy looking for Fournette before the game?

Tara, broad moor, and istrouma disagree with this as does the record book...

To be fair he said Dome which started in 1981. Those teams won way before then.

Thanks JJ

My post was referring to more recent football seasons.

C'mon on Sushi...I'm not as old as you but I certainly know my BR football.

BR has never had a 5A finalist!

No, they have not but 4a was the highest class when Tara won state and glen oaks and catholic made the finals

And 3a was tops when broad moor br high and istrouma won state....

And ever is a long time

Whether it was played in dome or not matters not....

Judge Parker had a lot to do with that gap between Tara and catholics title game appearances

It matters when we are in a thread about the 2012 state play-offs.

I made a post about the current condition of 5A football in the Baton Rouge area. We are currently in the 22nd season of 5A football.

I think that's a fair amount of time to make the observation that BR's 5A schools have had a tough time making it to the finals.

I'm also not criticizing the schools, coaches, or players either.

First it was a STM fan on the field before the game, now it is an STM player before the game? Who is it next? Jim Hightower? You said Fournette, a coach, and his dad all heard it but the story of who allegedly said it has changed again.

I Still say it is all a bunch of bullshite and this is not the first time another team has used this type of cheap motivational ploy against STM

If an STM player really said that then shame on him. If Fournette or his dad or coach made it up then shame on them.

I have the utmost respect for Aug's talent. I have the utmost respect for Aug's history. I hope Fournette is an LSU Tiger one day. The rest of it IDGAF about.

Good luck against Karr, over here it is basketball season
