I guess it also only matters if the kid will immediately start playing for a varsity squad his freshman year? I assume LHSAA isn't making any inspections over a 14 year old contributing on the JV squad.

you are eligible to play sub-varsity right away aka JV or freshman ball, just cant play varsity.

How is CPSB admitting kids from another parish into their middle schools so that they are in these feeder schools?

you can file out of zone, I dunno how they did it but plenty of kids out of zone all over the state.

My point exactly. Why do we have select/nonselect?

Because of the 9-10 years two certain powerful privates were forced to play in their enrollment class and 1A through 3A no longer trusts the bigger schools..

the rise of open enrollment, charters and heck the LHSAA does not have the manpower nor do the schools to check where every kid ACTUALLY lives.

Yes some folks at other schools know when kids are lying about where they live but don't want to turn in another school - even when the kid left their school.

Some of the class 1A and 2A schools from 2005, the first year of playing in class. None of these schools played football this past season, and most are gone now. Wonder if we tried play-in-class now if it would go better since the most underfunded schools are gone.

one is not like they used to be so not really in football in the years those two were down - only they won state titles in the classes they were in.

Then they should improve the school, facilities, etc.

Am I correct that you can send kid anywhere they want, just have to sit out a year. And if they move before high school it doesn’t matter… they will be eligible from being enrolled in feeder school before.

Honestly not sure… any help appreciated.

Debarge from Barbe was from Kinder

Plus all you need is a relative in that district you can use as your home address

Dutchtown football does it with kids that live in Iberville parish

cant do that and you will get caught

Couple things, i did find out that if a school offers a special class the school you are zoned for doesnt, you can be granted immediate eligibility.

as far as the kids from jennings on SH....i was told last night the family actually moved, it has been investigated and that investigators have been to the house at least 3 times.

in other words get over it. if they moved back once everything cleared, doesnt matter.

people need to just accept SH had the best team this year and stop looking for reasons to bitch, especially BR area people. I havent heard any Barbe people bitch about them having kids from Barbes district.

SH just went through the toughest gauntlet of any champion in 5A NS ever imo. Be happy for them as they have been knocking on the door for years now.

Someone is probably paid off to ignore that, otherwise the select bracket would be even bigger and you wouldn’t really have a nonselects bracket…

They have to keep the select brackets smaller than the nonselect brackets…

Texas currently has a House Bill sitting in committee, HB619, which would allow a 1-time transfer for any high school student without a 1-year wait period for Varsity.

Athletic directors and coaches are dead against it. Naturally.

But there's actually a lot that could be said that in the long run, it could reduce transfers over-all because it will force lazy coaches to actually try to be held accountable for developing better teams. Sure, the powerhouse schools will still be powerhouse -- but the mid-tier/lower-tier schools should be able to start putting better teams on the field.
