Best MLB player in the game right now. IMO Mike Trout is without a doubt the best player in the sport. Curious to see what others think.

Nobody thinks Harper is better. Mookie is the only other candidate at this time, but it's Trout hands down

I'm not saying he is better. But the most historic player in the game right now is Jose Altuve. He has a few more seasons, like the past couple. He will have an argument for greatest second baseman of all time. He is almost a lock for the Hall. He fought injuries last year, but he is in his prime and should bounce back. Already the greatest player under 5'8 in history. If you asked the Astros to trade Altuve for Trout straight up, I don't think they would do it..

I just moved from the Houston area. Altuve is adored there and he sacrificed a ton for the team. His contract is friendly and locked down. There is a massive hispanic following in the area and Altuve is the face of the franchise. He is almost untouchable..

I'm sorry he way this board worships Mike Trout is a bit unsettling. His teams have never done ANYTHING, and it's not like the guy hits 55 HRs a year.

From what I see of him, he's great, but, I guess y'all are beholdened to a admitedly flawed stat for the end all be all. What's he hit, about 33 hrs avg a year, less than or around100 RBIs and has lots of runs scored. Yes he also plays good defense, but he just doesn't feel like Griffey did in his prime or Arod in his peak roid years when they were crushing 55-57 hrs and had 120+ RBIs and stealing bases and playing top level defense.

He's also no fricking Mickey Mantle like people say. Mick hit 50hrs routinely. I think Trout has only hit over 40 once.

Trout has like 240 hrs in 8 seasons. That's nothing earth shattering. I think many just say Trout because that's what all the writers and tv people say. To me, he's just very consistent and good at all non pitching aspects, but he's not so much greater than his competition. Mookie is almost just as good.

Bring on the spreadsheets and the downvotes. The best player currently in sports may very well be him, but it's no huge gap like people say.
