There is a running, and growing, theme of "I only watch ESPN for games" because of the increased discussion and coverage of social topics in lieu of sports. This board is starting to feel the same way. It's questionable that a professional/collegiate athlete making a social statement belongs on a "sports" board. Shouldn't there be, or isn't there, a separate area for this? The Politics Board? I get that there is overlap, but I think most follow sports as something of an an escape. It's totally valid to discuss the peripheral issues that influence sports and vice versa. But when I come to "More Sports," that's what I expect to find. The last few days it's been, at best, Half Sports. Does this have traction? Could the social/political threads be relocated, leaving more space for actual sports? If not, feel free to blast away. This is America after all.

I can't agree more. I don't go to the Politics board for a reason...I don't watch or read the news for a reason. I don't want to think and read about all that negative shite all the time...it's increasingly more depressive. I come to sports for escape....

Freakin Thank You Man! I've had to avoid this board for the past 2 days because of this political bull that I don't give a damn about. I came here to talk about SPORTS on what is one of the most anticipated weeks on this website. If you wanna talk about Liberal or Conservative nonesense then go to the cesspool known as the Political Board.

PLEASE

1) I disagree, this board outside of major media incidents such as Kaep doesnt nearly have the same % coverage as ESPN for example

2) This board is going to always mirror what the media puts out because thats how most of us get our information about sports since we cant go to the games, or watch all the games, and arent reporters.

3) Just dont post in the threads. I havent. I havent read them either

It's been bad for a while on the OT and its starting to get shitty over here too.

People constantly and mercilessly bitch and moan about others bitching and moaning.

Just look at the OT and its Gary Chambers obsession. The people constantly whining about his popularity and wishing he'd choke and a ham sandwich are the same ones starting multiple Gary Chambers threads a week and never letting a day go by without posting about him.

This I agree with.

It's not hard to just ignore the threads, and if it bothers you that much just seeing a thread title on a message board...probably should take a break.

Dude.. it's just happening..

We are about to have college football start.. then NFL.. it will pass over soon enough.

Why contribute yet another thread to it if you can't stand it so much?

People really can't stand anything that is repetitive these days.. Doesn't bother me one bit.

I don't understand why everyone is so upset at Colin.

When a dumbass essentially writes the word DUMBASS across his face for you for all to see for the rest of time... you don't complain. You thank the dumbass for outing himself.

It's like Bill Engvall's "here's your sign", except Colin gave it to himself. Thanks. You just told the other 31 teams everything they need to know about you and would have had to figure out on their own.

Exactly. Just treat like any other sport you constantly see here and aren't interested in.

I don't care one bit about basketball.. but don't mind all the college and pro basketball threads.

If you don't care about Colin, ignore it..

It's a breaking news story (whether we like it or not) and IMO he deserves the backlash. I do wish that the media would now back off and simply ignore him while he wanders into irrelevancy. He's had immaturity issues in the past. Hopefully he will be cut and out of our lives soon enough.

Obviously the cliche is that the OT sucks now and it was better back in the day etc, but this summer has really gotten bad.

It's basically poliboard lite at this point. BLM really did a number on the OT.

Seems like a good place to leave some more non-sports stuff

I hear you, OP.

It's apparent to me that a great deal of users on this site are some backwards-arse people that clearly don't experience reality as the rest of us do. Some boards are worse than others. M/TV Board is a fine place. MSB is mostly a fine place. Poli board is a goddamned shitshow. OT is hit or miss. And so on and so forth down the line.

Mostly I just have to curb my expectations of this place because there are just so many mouthbreathers here.

Judging the value or content of the discussions isn't the intent. I'm just saying these topics aren't about sports. If you open a jar labeled "Peanuts," you expect to find peanuts.
