Why would he delete if they aren't serious? Just because people think they're serious? That doesn't make sense

Deleting the tweets makes it seem more serious than it would if he left them up.

So? Are you under the impression he would have to reply to every person letting them know it was a joke?
Everyone would know it's a joke then anyone late to the party would be ridiculed by the people who know what's going on.
It's like on here when some idiot jumps in a thread on page 7 with a hot take on something before he read the previous 6 pages which would've shown him his post was about to be dumb.

Aggregate sites grab the screenshot and make an entire article about it. I’m sure Florio already has.
Guys like Dov Klevin will tweet out what was said without any context, reaching an entirely new base of people who think it’s a real thing
