Seen the same thing the past 6 months in college football too.

uuuh...the media has been like this since the 40s...the last athlete the media actually protected was Babe Ruth and that's because their job depended on being able to write about him...they wrote something bad and he and the yankees would blacklist them.

The Boston media was brutal with Ted Williams

boston media have been brutal to some of their stars... including greats like Ted Williams and Bill Russell IMO

But the national media as a whole are worse than they have been... at least when you are a major player who generates more attention... there are just so many media outlets and so many different ways you can be nailed

If James gets rid of his ESPN, cable, and his twitter accounts he will probably be happier... seems like he has rabbit ears and doesn't use the 24/7 negativity well for motivation

I completely agree, it's very very sad that people jumped on the bandwagon of hate for him.

only because he's played in the NBA since he was 18.

He also has been a big minute guy his entire career.

Kobe has a couple of sub 2000 minute seasons and didn't hit 3000 minutes a season but once or twice.

Lebron has gone over 3000 minutes every season but one where he had 2900

How hard is it to not come off as a self absorbed a-hole? If he weren't such a douche, I'd probably hate the media's treatment of him.

I think being a self absorbed a-hole is part of the job description as a superstar athlete

In the NBA the only stars who aren't are probably Dwight Howard and Dirk (neither of whom IMO have dealt with the crush of never-ending media attention people like MJ, Kobe, Lebron, Shaq did)... mostly superstars are a bunch of egocentric guys who expect to be applauded for wiping their own arse on Fridays (and have been coddled and fawned over since they were 16 years old)

It is pretty much human nature tho... when you are surrounded by a never ending stream of sycophants who alternate between asking you for favors, telling you how great you are, and then publicly running you down as dogshit?

I think that a normal grasp of reality is just not in the cards for the most part

I appreciated the comment......I thought it was an appropriate response to the question that was asked......The question didn't reference Mav fans, Cleveland fans, or even Celtic fans.....it was in reference to LeBron haters ........his response was timely and in essence perfect.

Not necessarily true. I know a lot are, but there are a lot who aren't too. Now when I name these athletes, I don't know how they act in their personal lives. I am judging them by what I see, hear, and/or read. Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Pujols, Durant, A. Johnson, Fitzgerald, Mauer. Those are just a few off the top of my head who don't come off as self absorbed assholes.

Anyway, I'm not sure what some people in this thread don't get about other people not liking Lebron. FWIW, I'm not one of the Lebron haters who live and die by his successes and failures. I don't like the guy. I won't lie about that, but I'm not obsessed like some. The guy went on national tv to "take his talents to South Beach" (I understand some will say he wasn't really part of it and did it for charity and all that, but that's not how it was perceived. It was perceived as selfish and big-headed.) He has the tattoos proclaiming his greatness. He's cocky. He comes off as a douche, especially with comments like last night. These are just a few things people don't like about him. And before anyone says it, I know some of these things are misconstrued and possibly not even fair, but that's how he is seen. How can you not see why some people can't stand the guy?

Yet another example of his total arrogance. That's an awesome way to treat fans of the NBA, tell them how much better you are than them. It's shite like this that has diminshed the NBA viewership over the last 10 years.

Last nights ratings were the highest for game 6 ever

people would still hate him. I'm actually glad he released this statement. Because the amount of people who jumped on the "hate lebron" bandwagon this passed week. Was absolutely ridiculous

Actually, I can wake with the knowledge of feeling good knowing that my significant other DIDN'T sleep with one of my friends. Can you say that, LeBron?

He has a point, and no this isn't about money.

The people who have an irrational hatred of James have other problems that they should work on in their lives.

His statement was definatly about that. I dont know why James apologists continue to tell others what his douche bag statements REALLY mean.

This would actually be like telling the fans who have an irrational LOVE for the Saints to worry about their own problems after the Saints won it all.
