so 20ppg for 82 game seasons for 6 seasons is 9840 points.
Sure. But he's actually 9600 points behind Karee so he doesn't need all 9840 to reach that.

The last two years combined, he's averaged 75 games per season and 25.8 points per game (bumped up this year). And he's also gotten more efficient each year back.

So I can see him losing a half a point per game (25.3) and 3 less games per season (72) over the next 3 years. He could then drop down to 21.2 in 65 games per season for 3 more years and pass Kareem.

It will be close, and LeBron is no longer in his peak; however, he's so efficient and he's still so good overall that he's got a good chance, barring any signicant injuries.

I think this is probably sarcasm, but either way- I don't think we truly grasp how special a passer Lebron is. It can sometimes be overlooked when you marvel at his physical prowess and everything else

Out of all of his incredible skills, his court vision is the best. He made a pass chasing the ball out of bounds where he flung it over his shoulder and hit Channing Frye in the hands on the opposite side of the court against Atlanta this season. It was unreal.

Jordan is still better.

And James wouldn't be sniffing his records if Jordan didn't take 2 years off.

Lebron James is the second best player of all time.

Jordan was a better shooter
James a better passer
Both elite defenders.

Jordan got to hand check
Both got calls

Jordan had the best season. More titles. He's still easily the GOAT

LeBron has a higher overall FG%, 2-pt FG%, 3-pt FG%, effective FG%, and true shooting percentage. Jordan was a better midrange shooter and free throw shooting (a mid range shot).

I'm just not sure how one can definitively say MJ was an overall better shooter given all that.

Don't gloss over that. When lebron can't get to the paint he's lost finals. Jordan had one of the few un-guardable shots of all time (fadeaway). And he made his fts. Huge in putting away games.

I should have said Jordan was a better scorer. He was a jump shooter that shot close or better than 50% off the time. Thats insane to average that over a career.

i agree with everything you posted, except i don't see him actually passing Kareem... i think he ends up 2nd, which is still amazing, and above Jordan...

i see this situation just like I do Drew Brees and the all-time passing yards and TD record... Drew will end up breaking the yardage, but will end up 2nd in TDs... can't have 'em all, I guess...

He has been six straight finals and probably looking at his seventh this year. He also beat the best team in history coming back from a 3-1 deficit in the finals. He's got some sweet stats. his only knock in my book is he is a douche liberal.

But this was only really the case in 2007 and 2011, but even then he had a pretty good mid-range game by 2011; he just had a terrible finals overall.
quote:

Jordan had one of the few un-guardable shots of all time (fadeaway).
But it's still a low efficiency shot regardless. By my quick calculations, LeBron made 64 out of 182 from three in the last 6 finals; Jordan would have had to make 96 midrange shots out of the same amount of attempts to have been as efficient.
quote:

And he made his fts. Huge in putting away games.
This is true.
quote:

I should have said Jordan was a better scorer.
He was, but he also took many more shots. In Chicago, he averaged 23.3 shots per game, compared to LeBron's average of 19.6; LeBron had never averaged more than 23.1 per game.

So even if LeBron was far less efficient (averages 1.38 points per shot) on the 3.7 additional shots per game, he would probably have at least a 31 PPG average, not far from MJ's 31.5.
quote:

He was a jump shooter that shot close or better than 50% off the time.
He shot 50% or better 6 of 13 seasons in Chicago, and LeBron has shot 50% or better 7 of 14 seasons. But because LeBron shoots more 3's, his EFG of 53.6 is higher than MJ's 51.8 in Chicago.

Again. Different styles, but they are very comparable all things considered. MJ's championship advantage is what sets him apart, but the difference is not as great overall as some argue (not you).

Peyton Manning finished his career with pretty much every record in the book for a quarterback, how come he can't be considered the GOAT?
