Does he necessarily want to play until he is 38 or 39? That's the part I don't think is a given.

I have to assume this is sarcasm, but, then again, nothing on this site surprises me.

There is no way Lebron plays 6 more years. 4 tops

He's still the best player in the game. Until he loses that throne, none of us can even begin to reasonably guess when he will hang it up.

I think this is probably sarcasm, but either way- I don't think we truly grasp how special a passer Lebron is. It can sometimes be overlooked when you marvel at his physical prowess and everything else.
He's currently 12th in all time assists. Of the top 30, there is only one other non-PG and that is Kobe at number 29 (who played 20 seasons to Lebron's 14 so far).
He's going to be the first ever to be top ten all time in both points and assists. Other than Oscar (12th in points & 6th in assists), no one else is even close to top 10 in both. That's absurd. Furthermore, he could finish top 5 in both. Points is a given. If I use the same estimation for games as I used for his points (6 seasons at 82 games) and figure he will average 6 APG for those games - that would put him 3rd all time behind Stockton and Kidd in assists. (Could be 4th depending on how CP3 finishes who is currently 600 assists ahead of Lebron).
That's tough to fathom, a guy could finish 1st in points and 3rd in assists all time.

Can't wait to see the meltdown when he finishes with 7 rings

And no one's really even close. He's playing about as well as he ever has in the playoffs and he's never been more confident.

That's just because the rules are set up for him. If you couldn't dunk or drive to the basket or shoot 3's or dribble or pass in the paint, he wouldn't be all that.

Kobe just played 20 didn't he?
Lebron is on season 14. Could argue that Lebron's body and style of game can hold up a little longer than Kobe's too. Lebron doesn't have to maintain elite quickness and burst (things that seem to go first) to be an above-average player.
I will say that Lebron's games/season and minutes/game pace are higher than Kobe's so his 14 seasons are very long seasons.

It will be interesting to see what his game looks like in a few years, particularly his post game and 3pt shooting.

How old do you think he is?
He aint playing until he's 40

needs to average 20 PPG for 6 more seasons at 82 games
so 20ppg for 82 game seasons for 6 seasons is 9840 points.
1640 points a season.
He's averaged 73 games a season over the last 7 seasons (since he went to Miami).
At that rate he'd have to average 22.5ppg over the next 6 seasons.
If you drop his games played down to 65 per year he'd only have to average 25.2ppg over the next 6 seasons.
Realistically he'll probably average around 25ppg while playing around 73 games per season for the next 2 seasons, so that will give him some cushion when his ppg starts to drop and he sits more games for rest/injury.
Not saying he will or won't make it. Just throwing out some numbers since people seem to keep pointing out that he won't play 82 games and his scoring will drop off.

i THINK he is 32.
Oh look, he's 32.
He will play until he is satisfied with his legacy. He is not of this world.

Can't really use his age as a frame of reference because we've never seen an athlete like him.
Isiah Thomas RETIRED at 32. Lebron James is the best in the world at the same age.
He will likely be greater longer than any NBA player before him because physical therapy is far ahead of what it was even 20 years ago. You should google and see the things Lebron has done to his body on a day-to-day basis to combat fatigue and injuries. And I predict that'll be one more thing that his detractors hold against him.

MJ is the best ever, and he only made it to 40. AFTER having taken 5 years off. Lebron has maybe 3 good years left in the tank. 4 tops. You cant cheat biology
