I'd say MJ, but I have no problem if some choose LeBron. He's incredible

James was asked about the inevitable GOAT debate surrounding him and Michael Jordan during a recent interview with Time.

"I'm not taking nobody over me," James told Time as part of a wide-ranging profile published Monday. "There's no question."

quote:

"But I think Mike will say the same thing," James said. "Rest his soul, Kobe will say the same thing. Magic will say the same thing. Bird will say the same thing. Shaq could say the same thing. The late great Wilt. Kareem. I don't think none of us are going to take somebody else."

quote:

At a different point during the interview, James was asked whether he thinks he is a more influential athlete than Jordan.

"You ask somebody that grew up in the Jordan era, they're gonna say Jordan," James said. "You ask somebody who grew up in the LeBron era ... they're still gonna say Jordan.

Wow what a piece of shite. He says he'd take himself in a convo as GOAT and would expect all other all time greats to do the same.

He then goes on to admit Jordan is the influential player in basketball history.

Wish this guy would just go away and stop accepting interviews with ESPN and answering the questions they ask him. What a douche nozzle.

Unfortunately we're only going to get more of him once he retires.

I think about half of basketball fans outside of tigerdroppings thinks he's the goat as well. He's at the very least #2 all time. So it's not just him But yea, he does seem to be a bit obsessed over it unlike Mike.

Different players in different eras.

Cant compare Wilt to Shaq.

Cant compare Pete Maravich to Kyrie Irving.

They have some really great players over the evolution of basketball.

The correct answer and only answer here is the Greatest of each era.... the championships, the accomplishments, the longevity of careers, you cannot really compare because different players were given different circumstances over the time of history.

Simply you have GOATs of all eras.

Not even remotely the same. MJ retired the year LeBron was drafted. They were a season away from overlapping careers. For the first part of LeBrons career the game wasn't all that different than the game MJ played. It wasn't until Steph came along that the game evolved. Wilt to Shaq and Pete to Kyrie are completely different games.

All that being said....

I agree.

This is what you have a problem with? Humans don't achieve these levels of anything without a serious mindset to believe that anything and anyone standing in front of you can be beaten. This is hating just because you hate the guy. He gave context to his though process and you still can't see past the red and have a logical thought.

Yeh, MJ didn't have his own production company drop a self-proclaiming documentary where MJ had final say on who was interviewed and what pieces of the interviews made the cut...Mike totally doesn't care....

Mike is always touted for his "killer instinct" and how he always thought he could beat the person in front of him. When MJ does it, it's ok. When LBJ does it, it's not. Clear as mud.

I normally despise Stephen A, but he is right about this.

Lebron is the GOAT of longevity

MJ is very political and gives a good answer everytime it comes up.

He simply refuses to name any GOAT at all. If he was forced to actually pick one player he would pick himself.

MJ is tGOAT and not playing sides and keeping that money flowing in. He doesnt talk about politics and hardly does interviews.

LeBron has done less with more than Jordan I more time.

Jordan won 6 titles with less all time players around him in a league that allowed physical defense.

Jordan also didn’t take HGH, so there is that too.

LeBron has had every advantage over Jordan yet still has not accomplished anything more than him in all honesty.

This is like saying Emmitt Smith is a better running back than Barry Sanders because he won super bowls and played longer.

You can also go back into the history books and find the stats that were also tampered with in order for MJ to get certain stats.... I believe majority of this happened at Home Games in the 80s...

There was a big story on this years ago.

I would imagine they have this for ALL players over ALL sports as the evolution of keeping correct stats and books were also well mishandeled and this is why I would say comparing anyone in 1970 to anyone in 2026 is just not fair to each player. In 1970 you could have done XYZ with a stat book... in 2026 you cant hide anything as even G-League games will be posted/reviewed etc while the game is taking place as well as final.

In 1970 they had tape delay games being broadcasted? Not Live games? and not all games....

And again..this goes for ALL sports. Not just NBA.

So again, when a Jordan Baby or anyone gets on their rocker and says this or that about a debate on just simply a player its just not fair to the player in each of there eras.

This will be the same in 20 years from now trying to compare LeBron to another style of player that will come.

Just not fair to each.

Lebron is a complete narcissist and an idiot, but he's the 2nd best player of all time behind MJ to me. He's at absolute worst top 5, but I have him at two.

I have a bunch of friends who are fricking Kobe lovers and swear on Kobe being better than Lebron. That I absolutely do not agree with at all. I'd put Kobe at 10.
