Here is the way I look at it. Stats are to get players in the HOF when they have not won a championship. Its a way for reporters and fan boys to validate the "greatness" of said player.

Once a player has crossed over into winning championchips even multiple once, I think the accomplishments start to speak for themselves. What they've done in the playoffs, in the championship series, is more important that stats that they rack up on in the regular season. Regular season stats, again in my opinion, is for getting players who aren't on the championship level in the HOF or the HOF discussion.

With that said, how can one person argue that Lebron is the GOAT **AT THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER**, when MJ has won 6 rings, 6 Finals MVPs, and 3 3-peats.
When using this argument, how can one argue MJ is the GOAT and not this man?

You cant have it both ways

is getting sick in the finals now necessary to attain GOAT status?

No and I think that the Jordan Flu game is about as overrated as it gets.

I am not saying I do. It's hard to not say that Bill Russell is not one of, if not THE Goat.

I am not sure, I've tried to look it up, but did they even give out Finals MVPs when he played? The earliest one I can find is Jerry West in 1969.

I would like to See Jordans Career playoff/finals stats versus Russell's.

That could be the difference there. I don't want you to confuse my earlier statement as being that I was saying the rings were the sole determining factor in Jordan's GOAT status.

I don't necessarily agree with alot of this article's opinions, but some of the facts are interesting when considering Russell's legacy.

MJ is the best ever. I am just smart enough to not eat the bullshite "will to win" cliche the media throws at you. I bet you lapped up the "Kobe has the clutch gene" too?

I don't pay attention to mainstream media, so no I didn't eat anything they "threw" at me.

Kobe Bryant is not clutch. BUT he is one of the only people since MJ to have that killer instinct and not worry about what others have to say about him and want to be liked by everyone.

What does this have to do with determining the quality of a basketball player?

You mean hungover as frick from the night before from being a degenerate? Which begs me to ask

I love when MJ haters bring this stuff up. What the frick does this have to do with what he accomplished on the basketball court? MJ's a degenerate, he gambled a lot...oh the horror

They didn't give out finals MVPs. However, Russel won 5 actual MVPs. If the did give out finals MVPs, Bill would have between 9-11

It doesn't really, they just like to hang this out there. It's kind of like knowing you have a big dick, so you like to show it to people. And since you have that factor, most guys and people in general are going to hate you for it. Money and having lots of it, same thing. People hate you for it.

It's the problem 98% of the OT have.......

I would agree with the article, around a half dozen or so. Consider the GOAT Celtics contenders that were on those teams.....

Over his illustrious career, Russell averaged 15.1 ppg, 22.5 rpg, and 4.3 apg. He earned five MVPs, 12 all-star team berths, and won an Olympic gold medal in 1956. If the NBA had always given them out, Russell most likely would have won at least a half dozen Finals MVP awards too.

Has Jordan ever had to fight off cramps in the blistering heat of the non-air-conditioned Alamo Dome like LeCramp had to just last year?

His heroics in game 2 did allow the Heat to avoid getting swept by the Spurs, so there's that...
