The last 4 mountain stages were so weird. Very un Pogi like to not send it at least once. Also given his quotes this morning he sounds a little burnt out.

“I need to get away for a little while”

He’s not wrong though. I wonder if he is contractually obligated to ride La Vuelta in a few months after they made a press bombardment announcing his commitment

Tadej lets Arensman win.

Tadej reeled Arensman back in the first 2 times he attacked, the 3rd he had no response. Arensman either broke Tadej or annoyed him too much, but the yellow jersey did not want him ahead.

He miscalculated yesterday going too early with 14km left following an attack which gave Jonas the prerogative to sit on his wheel.

Tadej's definitely not been the same rider he was during the first half of the Tour. Who knows why. Maybe he came in overtrained or is having personal problems or Gianetti and his docs made a calculated decision to dial back his doping program halfway through the Tour.

Hell of a ride by Groves for his first TDF stage win.
Rest is as predicted

The insanely aggressive racing in week 1 with a late rest day made the 3rd week unwatchable.

That was so shortsighted, I get it Bastille Day blah blah.

The bigger problem is this race has become progressively more boring over the last few years. The lack of superstars, the money (look at UAEs "team") and the money in other events has these guys riding year round now. Just no wow now.

I think analytics play a big part in this too. You've got every facet of your race planned. Every carb they eat, every watt you can gain, every meter of a climb is mapped, race radio is keeping everyone informed. It's like watching a big strategy game play out.

No doubt. Efficient but not great for the consumer.

Look I understand the sentiment. But I feel like there's a bit of prisoner of the moment going on.
Even this year that sucked with withdrawals still had some interesting storylines like Lipowitz, Onley, Arensman, Ben Healy.

How easily people forget the Sky era. This is way different than that. Boring? bullshite. We have likely the GOAT and one of the best GT riders ever competing at the same time at their respective peaks. Imagine if it was just one or the other in the Tour. It would be a forgone conclusion before the race even started. Jonas is clearly closer this year to tadej and im looking forward to next year already.

Will Tadej break the Tour record by 2030? Needs 3 to break or 2/5 to tie

I hate how the Tour pretty much is wrapped up by the last week recently, Giro and Vuelta have been better in recent years. Last Tour lead change in final week has to be the Tadej TT crushing Primoz

Giro mountain stages have been toned down too much because they are scared of cancelled stages

Giro and Vuelta really need to swap spots

Rain in Paris today, meaning GC will be taken after the first ascent of the montmart climb. :(
