Garage 56 testing faster than any car in its class. About to dominate with a big ole American v8 dick. Rumor is the ghost of Enzo is already preparing his anus.

-24 hours of Le Mans is a very storied race, the ford vs Ferrari movie showcased it; 3 drivers split up 8 hour shifts

-Back in our dads day it was a big deal and influenced car buying decisions on what was cool. See: carroll shelby, broadcast on abc wide world of sports

-Nascar is running a 75th anniversary car highly modified to compete

-beating the smug euros with a gas guzzling Camaro from the Baton Rouge takeover will be hilarious

-and doing it in what they scoff at as trashy nascar will be even more of a since our machine is testing seconds faster than any car like body shape in the field

It’s one of the big 3 races (this one, monaco and indy 500)

It’s 24 hours long and simply finishing is a massive accomplishment.

also known as the Triple Crown

pretty much every racing driver dreams of competing at Le Mans

Le Mans was known as a dangerous race on a country road back in day, especially the night racing phase

thank you OP for the Enzo reference

Unnecessarily gay, but it’s #PrideMonth, so we’ll allow it.

All of that seems AWESOME

I will absolutely keep up with it if things look good for the NASCAR car

What other cars are in the class with them?

None if I recall correctly

The car is entered as a single-entry innovative car, which doesn't compete with any other classes.

This is still cool that they're doing this and putting out respectable lap times but they're there for exhibition only.

Before they put a chicane in it, the Mulsanne Straight was the fastest piece of track in the world. Three and a half miles with your foot buried in the throttle. In the late 80s, the Sauber Mercedes was hitting 250mph down Mulsanne.

That is an incredible pic.

I'm sure there's a least a little bit of angle/depth/lense play going on to exaggerate the effect but this also gives you a sense of how small the prototypes are. They look fairly large on TV imo but they are actually quite compact relative to what you'd think.

Older models but you get the idea:

What amazes me about Le Mans (and the 24 hours of Daytona) is that the lap times at night are no slower. They’re just driving balls to the walls for 24 hours.

You’ve got me so excited for this race

I’ve watched at least 3 hours of YT videos to get ready for this thing.

I’m getting close to getting into car racing and you have no idea how unlikely that would have been at any other point in my life
