Because he wasn't paid. It's a gray area.
Oh come on.
That kid's eligibility is beyond compromised. You have an entire season of pro ball, agents, and a brand endorsement hanging over him. I'd be shocked if the NCAA even attempted to untangle that mess.
Lavar royally fricked that kid over because I believe he could have played high level CBB if he continued to develop. He was one of the top players in his class before the BBB/Lavar stuff blew up. Played guard in the top tier AAU circuit as a freshmen and held his own.

Yeah, he did, and his treatment of his wife is odd too. He's a really terrible person.
What did he do?

As much as I hate lavar ball’s antics, I’m not sure if this is the case.
Liangelo had no shot at the nba, but lavar made him famous so it slightly elevates his value as some journeyman in other leagues, or he can make money as part of the ball family circus act. Yes, lavar pulled him out of college, but I’m not sure that charading as a “student athlete” betters liangelo’s life.
Lamelo is a bit more tricky, but, as with liangelo, he’s famous, and he can figure a way out to make money. If he’s talented enough for the nba, he’ll find his way there. I personally don’t think he is, but at least lavar has created the conversation.
I can’t believe I just defended lavar ball.

Uhh, no. LiAngelo was a good player and earned his way to UCLA. In high school as a junior, Chino Hills was ranked #1 in the nation. He and Lonzo lead them to an undefeated 35-0 season and a state title. LiAngelo averaged 28 points per game and was an all-state player. They were named national champs. Lonzo was a year ahead of him, so Lonzo wasn't there when LiAngelo was a senior. His senior year he led the team to a 30-3 record, and averaged 34 points per game. He was named all-area player of the year, first team all-state, was an all-american selection by Max-Preps, and led the state of California in scoring. He may not have been as heralded as Lonzo, but he didn't just get to UCLA because of his brother.
He was barely nationally ranked. He wouldn’t have been offered if not for Lonzo

Based on the videos I've seen of LaVar playing ball, I believe the major of the people that posts here can beat him in a game of 1v1. I know very well I could kick his arse. I've never seen someone who sucked so bad talked so much noise.

He likely won't. He might get a shot but he's not an NBA player.

You just have this opinion because of his dad.
Ive seen him play several times. A close friend of mine works closely with the nba and tons of coaches. Dude is not good enough to play in the NBA. So I don't have the opinion just because of his dad.

He was really good and earned his spot at UCLA.
Yeah sure he did......

But I'd just like to be clear that he didn't suck as a basketball player, because I see that thrown around a lot.
He was a very good high school basketball player. There are millions of those. That doesn't mean he earned his UCLA spot. He wasn't even turning heads there at all outside of his name/family. He was likely going to be a reserves reserve.

And you keep saying he never played a game with UCLA. He did. He played one game with them before the shoplifting incident that derailed his college career. He scored 11 points in 16 minutes.
this is great....Let's validate his skill because he played and scored against DII Cal St Los Angeles. lol........Bravo!

He played 16 minutes in his first game as a freshman. He wasn’t just some token guy at the end of the bench. He got minutes.

It doesn’t matter. He was one of 10 players who got minutes.
A few other players only played a couple minutes. Those are the end of the bench guys.

The value of a full scholarship to UCLA just on pure costs alone is around $40,000 per year. That is not including any athletic benefits like stipend, training/coaching, exposure, gear, upgraded meal plan, etc. That would push the value of a basketball scholarship at UCLA to close to $100,000 per year (not including the value of the degree if they graduated).
So, potentially throwing away $800,000 for two sons to play college basketball at UCLA is retard level stupid.

And please tell me that you aren't naive enough to think that shite doesn't happen.
For example, USC giving a scholarship to Master P's son as a package deal to get DeMar DeRozan.

how? Lavar doesn't dribble for LaMelo or get back on defense for him.

but then UCLA would be throwing $100,000 per year per kid away on them when Liangelo and LaMelo certainly wouldn't have been worth that

I’m saying that, despite all the antics, lavar has marketed lamelo. Which is possibly a good thing, because I don’t think lamelo has the talent to make it to the Nba.
Lamelo and liangelo are far more famous/infamous than other high school athletes with comparable talent. And let’s be real- how much does a UCLA education help most of their athletes that don’t go pro ?

I was referring to LaVar Ball throwing away $800,000 by his sons NOT playing at UCLA. (You assumed I was referring to UCLA throwing $800,000 away to get two mediocre players)
Also, I'm not naive.
