Sorry TH03, I dont buy that. We are all taught things by our parents. We learn things from them no doubt. But life teaches us most of the lessons we learn.

get off your fricking high horse. No one is condoning murder. And life has probably taught him a lot of things you could never even comprehend. Stop trying to apply your very likely upper middle class upbringing to a kid who likely grew up in the projects with no positive influences in his life. When did I ever say that? I'll give you a hint, I didn't.
When you grow up in a community where being hard is an admirable trait and killing someone for being disrespectful, you end up like this. And statistically speaking, his dad did the same and ended up in prison. This never ending cycle almost becomes impossible to break.
And yes, it's still his fault because he does know right from wrong, but it's still sad to see someone throw their life and one big opportunity to get out of the cycle away.

If your parents were deadbeats and possibly in jail, your life would be different. Acknowledging the cycle doesn't mean I'm making excuses for a murderer.

All you have to do is look at the statistics of single parent children. On a micro level yes they can succeed and flourish, but on a macro level the stats are just brutal.

I am sorry but this is a excuse that I will never agree with. Life is about choices. For everyone. He made a choice to stick a knife in a 18 year old kid and kill him, if that is how it plays out.
I am sorry but that is not because his daddy was not around. That is because he is a murderer and deserves to be removed from society for making that choice
He knew better no matter what his mommy and daddy taught him or didnt teach him. He knew the consequences.

It's not a discussion when you keep putting the world excuse in my mouth and then keep spitting out the same "he needs to be removed from society" and "he knows right from wrong" lines that no one is refuting.

As someone else said, it's a cycle. And while they know it's wrong to kill someone, they're more likely to do it because of shitty decision making abilities, no value for life, nothing to lose, etc.
Doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished to the full extent of the law. Until the dregs of society stop reproducing like fricking rabbits, nothing is going to change.
