I'm gonna predict the Lakers will miss the playoffs, Nash will retire, and Dwight will leave in free agency. Meaning Kobe will have the most miserable next year and end up retiring.

No way this stacked team doesn't win it all. :mailman:

So, never watched the NBA before, eh?

They could start 1-15 and still make the playoffs.

Dude, it's not baseball. There are 8 seeds.

Ban bet? And I hate the Lakers, BTW.

The thing with the Western Conference is that it is so deep that there are 10 teams with a legit shot of finishing the season with a winning record.

It might not seem like much, but going 41-36 isn't that easy, particularly with an old team that still has to settle in under a new coach, and find an identity while playing these games.

I would have had more faith in them making the playoffs with Brown than without

"training camp" is done. Whoever takes over can't instal a new system and shite like that, this is a joke IMO

I think they sneak in but over-reacting 5 games in hopefully gets them what they deserve

17 NBA Championships
32 Conference Titles
23 Division Titles

the 2nd most successful franchise in the history of professional basketball. And let me get this straight, you think the whole thing is going to derail and fall apart because of a 1-5 start and firing a shitty head coach?

yeah, that's an intelligent conclusion if I've ever seen one. Or.......you just are butthurt about the Lakers. I'll go with the latter.

One of 2 things:

1. You either really hate the Lakers with a passion and basically hope this happens.

2. You don't watch basketball... because this team would make the playoffs even if they didn't hire a new coach this season.

I will bet you my $800 to your $300 that the Lakers will make the playoffs,. Since you are so confident you should take this bet easily.

Finishing 41-36 is impossible. No one can do it.

You people do realize it usually takes about 47-50 wins to make the playoffs in the West? I still expect them to make the playoffs but 41-36 won't even get them close.

It's not impossible, no, but it remains likely that at least 7 or 8 other teams in the Western Conference will play that well.

There isn't the same margin of error as a team from the East would get.

It was a joke because there are 82 games in a season that fell flat because I didn't realize he had already accounted for the 5 games they've played.

It is impossible unless it is a short season

No, that's the 77 game balance left in this season, for the Lakers to end up playing just above .500 basketball.

In most seasons over the last 5, they'd have to be somewhere more like 47-30 to 49-29 for the remainder of the year to actually have a shot at a WC 8th seed.
