Holy shite, didn’t realize Astros fans were this butthurt lol. I thought they had accepted that the run was over and were ok with the long rebuild that’s about to happen. Be happy guys, you have Cam Smith. Too bad the Cubs had to give you the only prospect in the current system that will make an impact in MLB LOL

Oh it’s terrible but what do they expect? The window is gone. They’re in 2022 Cubs territory. They need to be concerned with how putrid the farm is. There is zero help on the way

Cause they’re in rebuild mode. Their fans just don’t know it yet, I guess

Will Tucker prioritize the superior public transportation and narrowness of the Windy City during his free agency

Nice bump.

It's funny how quickly a lot of Cubs fans turned on him.

I thought they'd turn on him in the playoffs when he usually doesn't hit his weight. Looks like the timeline got moved up a few months.

The totality of this season is a pretty good representation of him as a player. Wouldn’t surprise me if he has one more good run for a few weeks in him this year, but overall these numbers prorated out to 162 games is who he is, which is a really good overall player.

I would be interested to hear from the rational Cubs fans how they feel now and whether they want to keep him. I would think he’s looking at 12/13 years for 375-400 million still, barring something unforeseen

You mean like a foul ball off his tibia, or a torn hamstring, or maybe UCL?

And that's just the guys involved in this particular trade (Tucker, Paredes, and Wesneski)

I don't know the answer to who gets the money (or how much) to achieve competitive balance, but I do know that the teams that can avoid the mega long term deals are going to have a much better chance remaining competitive

The Astros have gotten bit by every deal but Altuve. The Twins took the real bite on Correa's deal.

Can you think of another deal greater than 4 years that the Astros got the production they paid for from any pitcher or position? Even Bregman's last 2 years at least of salary outweighed what he produced early on

If you watch him every day, he can be frustrating. He’s a really good player. But his body language is horrible, even if he doesn’t always intend it to look like that, and it sometimes looks like he doesn’t give a shite. And that’s frustrating when he goes cold.

Altuve: Win
Yordan: TBD
Hader: TBD but was looking good until a few days ago
Javier: TBD
McCullers:

Abreu was a total miss but shorter. Same with Montero. Verlander never got 4+ either but his extension was a clear win.

Who else have they given 4+ to in the Luhnow/Click/Brown era?

Yordan is already a win. Bregman’s deal was undoubtedly a win as well

The bigger issue is you also box yourself out of retaining a lot of talent if you refuse to give out those deals at any age

For some reason I was thinking the Alvarez deal started in 2022. I guess it’s still TBD but it is looking pretty damn good even with the lost season this year

Wasn't considering Bregman because it only added 2 years of team control past his arbitration years. Was a good deal, though.

Impossible to call Yed’s deal a win

2 knees and a hand/wrist later, who knows?

Bregman’s deal at 25 M per was a good deal, but no way at the end of that deal did he produce at a 30 M level per year

And keep in mind, I’m looking at this from our, the fans, perspective. We just don’t want the cap to affect our team’s chances to win. Long term high AAV deals almost always turn out bad for us.

2 years/50 mil for the production they got from Bregman is excellent value. Look around at free agency and the other contracts dished out those years if you’re looking at from that perspective

They’ve never signed one

Wasn’t referring to Astros specifically in this case

I understand. I’m saying if you’re thinking that money would have been better spent elsewhere, look at the free agent contracts where that money would have been spent and find the deals that would have put the Astros closer to a championship. Even with the benefit of retrospect, there’s not much out there

Wtf are you talking about? The Cubs are the 4th highest valued MLB team worth 4.6B. They are a global brand that get people from all over the world visiting Wrigley. They can afford Tucker’s contract….

Meanwhile the Astros change their uniforms every 5 years and play at stadium named after a juice box. Even after a dynasty run still have zero national following because they play in a shitty, boring, hot, wide as hell & with no public transportation city.

Quite the melt, bud.

You sure you aren't mad? lmao.

I benched Tuck in fantasy - he goes into these months long slumps all the time, some years he goes all the way through the playoffs looking like utter crap.

Can't say Stros fans didn't warn the Cubs though.
