Oh wait
Are you saying LSU ran a lot of screens in the miles era?
My biggest miles complaint was that he didn’t run any screens or easy complications

Justin Herbert has BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUST written all over him.

This many posters thinking Herbert is a bust is making me want to buy stock in him

The problem is history. How many of these "limitless potential" but "eh" play guys work out? Even Josh Allen may slide next year and then what?
Bortles, Gabbert, etc just recently. I mean how much separation is there really between Herbert and Logan Thomas? Thomas was floated as a high pick at one point.
I mean JR even kind of fits (but he was the best QB in college his final year)

Good idea, Herbert checks more boxes than anybody physically and will shine now that he’s away from that snoozefest passing game he played in at Oregon. Only way he busts is if he can’t learn. Miami should take him at 5.

Eh, Josh Rosen has a 3% the year he came out. Not saying it isn’t a useful stat it’s just a little deceptive for projecting success at the NFL level.

I like this comparison. Both hyped by draft analysts, but watching them play is very underwhelming.

no i'm saying foobaw isn't his primary interest in life and he's not the type to get fricking murdered running it 10+ times in the NFL every week he's an aloof smart guy who just has "golden ticket" level physical skills
A less stupid Jameis Winston is the vibe I’m getting. Winston has all the talent in the world but he isn’t a leader of men and never will be. Some NFL GM’s and coaches are known to think they can turn those talents into somebody they aren’t.
Sean Payton seems to look for that leadership trait and try and turn them into quarterbacks. Just the opposite of Winston, Jamarcus Russell or the Ryan Leafs of the world.

I'm saying the exact opposite, he was a moron

Did you watch the video? He clearly shows Herbert has a taste to ignore CBs and throw right to them.

Apples and oranges. Oregon has had Marriota, harrington, and akili smith all go top 3 in the last 20 yrs and flop. With several other guys get drafted well, with no real starters long term. Oregon plays crap defenses with a high octane offense usually. Would scare me away from a top 5 pick. Tua would be more appealing to me.
Jamarcus - as good as he was at LSU he was not NFL capable in terms of preparation and work ethic. He had the physical tools like no one else we have seen and it worked in college......even in the SEC. Doubt he goes number 1 in that draft if it were anyone but the Raiders. And all that said, I do think there is a chance he could have succeeded if he gone to a winning franchise and had a boot in his tail from day 1. We will never know on that one.

Tua’s personality can work like Russell Wilson makes his work. I admit I don’t know much about his leadership style just like I don’t know Hebert’s leadership abilities. But Tua doesn’t seem to have that no bullshite type A personality that a Joe Burrow has. People seem to compare Tua to Brees a good bit but I don’t see it. Tua compares to Russell Wilson to me.
Joe Burrow compares to a Drew Brees, Peyton Manning type leadership style.
Both can be successful but I prefer that Joe Burrow demeanor over all the QB’s in this years draft to start a franchise with. That goes for any draft.
I want the Tua type personality to be my backup in an ideal scenario.

The few times I’ve seen Herbert interview was him answering questions about his leadership skills. He seems to be trying to make force himself into being a different personality rather than being himself.
I want somebody that was born with the Alpha type personality to QB my professional franchise. Born a leader. Not someone trying to learn to be a leader.
I’m not knocking Hebert or Tua but they come off as quiet or too nice. Just not the type I would prefer to QB.
But I am basing that on very little info and could be completely wrong about their ability to lead. They could be George Washington around teammates for all I know.
Same as Myles Brennan and what we think we know. Most of us think he is a laid back surfer type guy. But Trent Dilfer says that isn’t true and that he is a super intense and fiery person who commands the huddle really well.

“I’m a different person, to be honest,” Herbert said at the NFL Combine. “The kid who showed up at the University of Oregon isn’t me anymore ... I’ve become more vocal and more outgoing and there are things that you have to do to be the quarterback. The way the quarterback carries himself, I think I’ve done a great job of becoming that over the last four years.”

LSU fans I swear
Disclaimer: I absolutely love Burrow and think he’s the best QB prospect since Luck. I just laugh at how every LSU fan in compares him to some top 10 QB in the NFL history in every comparison they make.
