re: Kobe or Lebron?

If the game is on the line I want Kobe with the ball over Lebron. Now if I am buliding my team I want Lebron.
I agree that Kobe is the guy I want shooting the ball when I'm down 1 with :05 left, not debating that right now.
But here's the difference.
In a perfect world where ALL else is equal, Kobe would play 47 minutes, and his team would be down by 1 with :05 left, and there's a good chance Kobe will win it for you at the end.
Now, in that perfect scenario, if we swapped LeBron and Kobe, well LeBron being a more efficient scorer, better rebounder, better passer and so and so on forth, his team wouldn't be down by 1 with :05 left. They'd likely be up by 4 or 5.
Therefore, I'm taking LeBron every time.

What I wrote in the other thread:
quote:
When Kobe had his game the entire crowd was chanting MVP...MVP....MVP. When Lebron had his game the place was still cheering for the Knicks...and they are supposed to be courting him. Ive heard numerous people who were at the game discuss this and every single one said that Kobes game was way better to watch. Lebron may of had to rebound and pass but Kobe didnt have to...he was to busy doing stuff that no one else has ever done..like setting the Garden scoring record! He is without a doubt the best scorer other than Wilt Chamberlin that the NBA has ever had. He holds almost every scoring record there is from the guard position. He is a WAY better score than Lebron and a WAY better on ball, lock down defender, with 3 rings. Its stupid to even have a debate right now....maybe in a few years we can but not now.

Look, LeBron needed to go out and be a scorer, distributer, and rebounder for the Cavs to beat the Knicks the other night, hence the triple double. All Kobe needed to do was score. He has a team that even distributes the ball, and he's a guard with some decent post players so he doesn't need to snag rebounds. His job against the Knicks was to score and score often, and he did. He had what, 61 points in 37 minutes? That's crazy.

No doubt they have very different roles and are easily the two best players in the league. I just think Kobe is more impressive. Everything lebron is doing has been done before...it may not have been done in a long time but its been done. The stuff Kobe is doing has never been done..by anyone.

what stuff? scoring 61 in a certain building? i really think you're letting your kobe fandom cloud your judgement with some of this stuff. lebron's performance in MSG was equally as impressive, i don't see how anybody can realistically claim otherwise

I replied to that in the other thread, I'll refrain so we dont have the same debate in 2 threads, even though we already do, LOL.

61 points in 37 minutes is crazy, no doubt.
But the difference is, you make it seem like Kobe doesnt average as many rebounds or assists cause he doesnt have to and LeBron does.
The FACT is that Kobe cant pass or rebound like LeBron simply because he is not as good as LeBron at passing and rebounding. He NEVER has been and he never will be.

LOL.
I broke his comment down line by line in the other thread, and I must say, I thought I did a pretty good job.

Anybody still got Lebron after today?

Bonds is the greatest hitter of all time...he deserves to get sucked off...Lebron hasnt done shite yet.

Burn me at the stake, because if we're talking basketball player, you've got to look at on the court shite.
LeBron James being "all-world" off the court doesn't matter when pertaining to his on court performance. (Although I agree that he is a class act) I have to look at this objectively.
Jump shooting - LeBron has greatly improved, but it's Black Mamba all day, everyday in this category
Kobe - 1
Bron Bron - 0
Rebounding - Bron Bron in a landslide.
1-1
Passing - LeBron puts up superior assists numbers, but I find both of them to be among the best passers at their positions. Push.
1.5-1.5
Killer Instinct - Mamba has it. LeBron is developing it. Advantage Kobe.
2.5-1.5
Ball Handling - LeBron is unreal in this aspect of the game, especially for his size.
2.5-2.5
Getting to the Rack - Probably the hardest part of the equation to figure out. Both are unreal, and do it in completely different ways. Again, I can't decide. Push.
3-3
Defense - LeBron is working on being a pretty good defender. Kobe is a stopper. LeBron, IMO, looks better this year because he's a great help defender. Kobe is just lights out.
4-3
Clutch - Doesn't come close. I think LeBron is, again, developing it. Kobe has it already.
5-3
On these 8 criteria, I think Kobe is the better player right now. However, long term, my prognosis is that LeBron has a chance to be the better player all-time.
My verdict: Black Mamba is better...
