lol exactly
that's the biggest problem with most NBA fans and the media. all that matters is points scored by a player and that's it. none of the other real stats matter to most. 9 times out of 10 when a chucker like Kobe scores a lot of points he shoots the ball like 25-35% and lives at the free throw line mainly due to bullshite foul calls.
but hey! as long as he makes a couple of fancy shots and dunks for the highlight real that is all that matters!

He's falling off his pedestal. And I love it.

He has always been, and always will be, a Ball-Hog...

Well, the previous possession, with a 1 point lead, Kobe tried to pass but he threw it to the Bulls.

He has led his team in assists every year for the last 5 years.

This is the most deceptive picture in the world. There was 1 second at the most left on the clock when this photo is taken. So of course every bull left their man and challenged Kobe. He couldn't have passed it if he wanted to. With a second left on the clock, it'd be foolish to try and pass the ball and have someone else get off a shot.
ALSO, when this play started with 4 seconds left who would you rather have taking that final shot? Steve Blake? Devin Ebanks? Josh McRoberts? The only argument you could possibly make is Pau, but let's be real here....Pau isn't going to be able to create a very good shot for himself with 4 seconds left.
And with 4 seconds left you can't run much of an in-bound play. It's going to be someone 1 on 1.
The CORRECT analysis of this play should be that Kobe should have went for the pull up jump-shot instead of driving into the lane and leaving the game in the hands of the ref to make a foul call/have to shoot over a swarm of defenders who can leave their man due to only 1 sec left on the clock.

Cant fault him on that shot, but my question is what the frick was he thinking on the possesion before that. Why even try to make that pass? Either let them foul you or run the clock until you need to take a timeout.

These are my exact thoughts. The Bulls just kind of closed REALLY fast on him on that last shot and he basically had to put it up cause time was running out.
The bigger thing is why did he even try to pass the ball on the previous possession. You'd think he'd want to be the one to get fouled and go to the FT line.

Kobe wants to take this shot.
The Lakers want Kobe to take the shot.
Everyone knows Kobe is going to take the shot.
That will not change.
It is not the most efficient way to win a game, but the Lakers do it and have done it for years. Sure, Kobe is "selfish", but a good majority of top options on their teams will take that shot. Not a big deal.
