the problem is they're going to have to reboot the franchise if they don't re-sign him b/c there are plenty of teams who will pay him

i mean he's no Joe Flacco (who destroyed the market being mediocre-bad)

he could win a bunch of meaningful games in Denver, Arizona, Jacksonville, etc

Cousins throwing an interception off his back foot as his last play as QB for the Skins is so fitting...

FYI Kelvin Shep picked off Cousins in the Giants win over the Skins

Yup

Not worth the 30 million he will ask for

We can spend that money else where

He is terrible in crunch time, especially vs good teams or in prime time

As a Cowboys fan, I hope Washington uses the Joe Flacco calculator and signs him tomorrow.

This is kind of a dumb question, but is there really a huge difference between paying him 20-ish versus 30 mil? I know guys like shel and SFP say you have to stick to your guns on a middling guy like Cousins, but there has to be some value in overpaying for a known commodity versus going back on the market.

Is 25+ TDs and 12 ints middling? The redskins just aren’t a good team.

Actually the Skins are not bad at all

Toughest schedule in the league this year and finished 7-9 despite being one of the most injured teams in the league.

Well, I have a weird bug up my arse about TD pass stats and using that +/- as some sort of valuable indicator. As long as a guy is efficient, moves his team, and doesn't throw a ton of picks, who gives a frick how many 1 yd TD passes he has?

OK, rant aside, I guess my point is it's a really tough call if you will only pay Cousins like 22 and he wants 28-ish. Are you really going to be able to do much more with that 5-10 million you don't want to pay him? Now, if you can get a guy at like 15 for Cousins production, I can see that. But, is that even possible? I know some people have said just get a guy like Tyrod Taylor instead.

Of course bc his record vs Dallas is bad and a contract like 30 million a year would kill the rest of the roster.

The Vikings just balled out with Case Keenem so it’s possible if the skins keep strengthening the defense.

You put Cousins on this Jags team and they are going to the Super Bowl next year.

Case Keenum also is/was the best passer when seeing pressure this year. It’s not like the Vikings are winning in spite of Keenum. He’s played fantastic this year.

e
exactly

i mean if you don't re-sign cousins b/c he doesn't win enough, signing Taylor, who has won less, seems idiotic (based on the argument)

If Gruden stays with the Skins, then so will Cousins.
