He flocked to one team with talent to win a championship. Why not do it again?

This. He's no Lebron, that's for sure.

The frick? The Knicks had a great start to the season. Thats it.
They've sucked for the last 2 1/2 months.

he'd definitely appear like a hypocrite with the ray allen situation.

People don't remember how much KG wanted to stay in Minnesota. If they had let him, he'd probably still be there. The front office had to talk KG into leaving saying that it was the best thing for him and for the team. KG is loyal to a fault in my opinion, but that's who he is.

Garnett has been one of the most loyal players in the NBA over the last 15 years.
He's not leaving Boston until his contract is over. And then, he'll probably just retire.

Sucked is a bit hyperbolic. They've definitely come They're still playing like a .600 team. Not a real contender, but they're still really good.

He was traded to the Celtics, you moron.
quote:
BOSTON - The Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired 10-time All-Star and 2004 MVP Kevin Garnett from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 first round draft pick (top three protected) and a return of Minnesota's conditional first round draft pick previously obtained in the Ricky Davis-Wally Szczerbiak trade. Minnesota also receives cash considerations in the deal.

Of course, they can beat Boston. It should be a good series.
probably would be the only 1st round series I would watch

quote:LINK Hey moron, KG had a lot of leverage with regards to where he was dealt.
The clincher, though, was Garnett's willingness to back off his well-chronicled refusal to play in Boston. Garnett's unwillingness to make a long-term commitment to the Celtics abruptly took this deal off the table in June, but McHale and his Boston counterpart, ex-teammate Danny Ainge, managed to resuscitate the trade and quickly move it to the brink of completion.

Like I said, because the jump shooting Knicks are going to be playoff world beaters.
What you saw Indiana do to them a few nights ago? That's exactly what is going to happen when they run into an elite defensive team in the post-season.

Yeah, KG did have to sign off on that trade.
The original point, though, is that Garnett really loved Minnesota and never wanted to leave. Like you said before, they had to sit him down and convince him that it was best for the franchise to be able to rebuild. And also, that the fans would forgive him and understand (which they did).
He could have been in Los Angeles competing for titles long before then. But he chose not to be. I don't think I've ever rooted harder for a team than I did for Minnesota over the Lakers in the 2004 conference finals.

Was he not still traded?
Yes. Doesn't matter if he had leverage or not.

I think EVERYONE hated those Lakers
Was awesome watching them dominated by Detroit.

What?
If Garnett didn't have a no-trade clause on his contract, he would probably be playing for the Clippers (or someone else) right now.
He does have a no-trade clause, though. So he's still playing for the Celtics.
Leverage, in a lot of cases, is everything.
Obviously, the leverage he has now was contractual. But it was basically the same thing in Minnesota. If he didn't sign off on that trade, it wasn't happening. So, in a way, he did have a choice to go play in Boston. That doesn't mean he isn't loyal to a fault, though.

My point was that he was traded.
