I can’t believe they are using the “spiked a temp” after training excuse when something was up all week. I still think they’ve been babying a foot issue.

This derby is WILD. Seeing swirling rumors about a bone bruise on a key player. Seeing both forte and verifying mentioned. Forte stumbled galloping this morning and verifying took that unmanned tour of the track. I guess it could be anyone

Was looking thru Youtube videos at some previous races and ran across the broadcast videos of Secretariat's TC runs. Every damn time I watch those I still can't believe the moves he made.

There is a point that can be made 60-70s might have been the peak for American TB as a breed, but Japan gets similar horses that can hit those times at distance with the more traditional bloodlines. I think there is a pretty established correlation between yearling sales blowing up and decline in soundness and stamina. It should be noted, Japan’s top young horses usually sale before weaning so I think have fewer things done to them to get sales ready.

I don’t think it is a coincidence that a horse that was never prepped for sale was one of the few in past decades that raced pretty regularly from early 2 through early 6 without any major issue.
