He was originally with them in training camp but didn't make the final cut. Now they have seen the light and added him to their active roster.

The OG severely overhyped LSU player by their fans.

LSU fans had me convinced that he was about to take over the conference.

You're smoking crack.

First of all, there were dozens of players decades before him that were severely overhyped by our fans.

Secondly, there was a very tiny minority that thought he was going to be an elite player. People just liked his last name and his bruiser style so he was kind of a fan favorite coming out of HS. It wasn't because he was some program changer. He was the 7th ranked player in Louisiana.

He was the first one that I remember getting MASSIVE hype while I was on TD.

And if I remember correctly, it started late in his freshman year and leading into his sophomore year.

You're not going to convince me that it was only a few LSU fans here hyping him beyond belief.

Frankly, you're just wrong. Especially relative to players that actually got massive hype from our fans, both warranted and unwarranted. He wasn't a blip on the radar compared to dozens of others.

We do often over hype players without good reason, so I'm not saying we don't.

frick, look at guys like Travonte Valentine

Devin White kind of reminded me of him coming out of high school.

Hilliard probably would have been a GOAT linebacker.

Hilliard was a lot fatter and slower than Devin white.

Kenny Hilliard ran a 4.83 at 10 lbs lighter than Devin White

They are different planets athletically.

It's an LSU website and my best friend/second family are LSU fans. I've typically paid more attention to what's going on with LSU football than any other program outside of Alabama.

ETA: And I know damn well y'all hyped tf out of Hilliard. Caterpillar is wrong.

Well he went for 100 yards and a TD against Arkansas and scored 3 TDs against UGA in the SEC championship game his freshman year so I'm sure people were excited about him. I don't remember him being hyped nearly as much as you're saying

Yea Kenny was definitely super hyped coming out of hs. He lived up to it and then some there for a few game run his freshman year and then a few different factors, I think anyway, played into him petering out. I honestly think he should have went to Alabama and it probably would’ve worked better but what do I know.

Yeah, I remember him kind of going beast mode for a stretch there and busting open the SECCG.

The hype got crazy after that. At least that's how I remember it.

But it was a while ago, so I might be wrong.

Him running for less than 31 yards in the 2011 MNC is still the worst prop bet loss of my life.

His freshman year? 2011? When He was 18 years old and had 9 touchdowns on one of the best teams in college football history? Damn.. why would they hype him up

He was a promising back that got valuable playing time on a championship caliber team. Pump the breaks on the outrage that people were excited

Jeremy Hill was in the same class as him, although he joined LSU a year later. No one in their right mind thought Hilliard would be anything more than a complimentary back that would close out games
