frick Roger Goodell. Seriously, does anybody like or support this guy other then the owners? He is changing the game of football so much that its barely recognizeable. He is such a freakin hypocrite.

This situation perfectly illustrates why he is a terrible commissioner and how he is killing the golden goose. Goodell has presided over the zenith of the NFL and many mistakenly believe he has somehow contributed to it (nope, Tagliabue and he is the best commish in the history of the league)

Roger Goodell is nothing more than a marketing/PR guy...plain and simple. He is a Madison ave exec running a business. It is all about the image and nothing else. Image is important, but Goodell has proven to be a one trick pony.

Rule changes, crackdown on player misbehavior, etc. is only geared towards protecting their image even when it doesn't need protecting

ridiculous rule changes? Concussions, the NFL wants to LOOK like they're being proactive...they don't want to be proactive or else they'd be out of business

Bounty Gate? Concussion lawsuits are in the news and making us look bad...oh I know, we'll fabricate an entire scandal, pin it on a high profile scapegoat and to the public it will APPEAR that we're really tough when it comes to stopping concussions...with the added benefit of DROWNING OUT the lawsuits playing in the public eye

Josh Gordon Suspension? Well shite, we just dropped the ball big time on the Ray Rice suspension...we forgot that we punish people 10x worse for non violent offenses, like inhaling marijuana (second hand)...hmmmm, how can we not look like total dicks? hmmmm...oh I know, we'll drag out Josh Gordon's appeal right up until the season starts...When people are watching football, they don't give a shite about corporate hypocrisy that treats

The NFL suspended the dolphins player indefinitely, fined him and sent him to sensitivity training for "OMG" "Horrible"

They are about to suspend Josh Gordon for 16 games for smoking marijuana

They just suspended a guy (a big pro athlete) for only 2 games for KNOCKING OUT A WOMAN

Goodell always finds himself and puts the league in these situations, and he always manages to wriggle himself out

the chickens will come home to roost though...they have to

The pot suspensions are out of control I will agree with you. Ray rice should be banned for life for what he did it Gordon is getting 16 games (all be it that Gordon is obviously a moron for continung to put himself in these positions)

blackmon could be also, sometimes the drug is stronger than the motivation to be someone special

Lol, it's not the drug. Marijuana is not addictive like alcohol or heroin. There's a VERY good chance it's the household and neighborhood in which he was raised. He has been told his entire life he would amount to nothing. His talents prevailed and he found success. He has no way of knowing how to handle it or to respect boundaries/rules because he has never been exposed to them.

it isn't about what's fair. It's about doing what's right or best or fair in their honest judgment; however, the NFL has been run for nearly a decade now by a guy who is solely focused on and obsessed with the image projected by such decisions, rule changes, etc.

basically, he's the worst possible choice for commissioner. You don't see an advertising executive running Microsoft do you?

unions are really to blame, they can't point out this hypocrisy without condemning one of their own...if they did, the whole would benefit.

The NBA and NFL have a disturbing trend of placing violence abhorrently low on "the worst things you can do" list. Right now I can only place 3

1. the spoken word
2. smoking marijuana
3. knocking your gf the frick out

I got Gordon off waivers this morning. If he only gets 8 games or something, you can engrave my name on the fantasy trophy.

Weed isn't addictive. Your body doesn't form a chemical dependence for it

I took him in the M/TV league. If he gives me 8 games with Megatron and Cobb Team Genie is taking home the gold.

I got him with a late pick...I think he misses 1, 2 games waiting for an injunction...he plays but the loss of an offensive geared HC who was present for his breakout year gives me pause

Can't you form a psychological dependence on it? I feel like I've read that somewhere.

as long as Cleveland has a guy who can chunk it 40-50 yards down the field, Gordon should be good to go...he did his damage on 3 routes

fly
deep post
10 yard slant
