You can’t play basketball any better than he does. He does it ALL.

Clean-cut hard-nosed basketball player who plays the game the right way.

so you are saying the player who was back to back mvp winner the past 2 seasons and put up a mvp worthy season this year is pretty good?

i might agree with you

The nuggets are a good squad, but you have to ask yourself where they’d be without him.

That argument can be applied to any team. Of course a team would do worse without their best player...

Not always. Sometimes they become more of a team without their best player

He doesn't really play good defense but besides that he is indeed a boss!

He's had a +4.5 DBPM the last two seasons. That is tops in the NBA.

He's also 10th in the league in Defensive Win Shares.

I think he's a plenty good defender. He doesn't block a ton of shots, but he's always in good position and has great hand discipline to not constantly foul out like a lot of big men.

ETA:

And you better make your first shot because if not, he is getting the rebound. #2 in the NBA in DRB%.

There's been 5 30-20-10 games in history and Jokic has 3.

The other two are by Kareem and Wilt.

Of course there out outliers, I just think it's such an obvious statement that it is a very weak criticism of a team

To be somewhat less contrarian, the argument could be expanded to say that Jokic's passing ability coupled with his scoring greatly increases the offensive capability of the other members of the team. Therefore, his overall impact to the success of the Nuggets is larger than his individual scoring and losing Jokic would have an larger impact than the average all star.

I was tell my buddies that I also think his game translates to longevity. While Jokic is plenty athletic (I mean, he's in the NBA), he doesn't rely and speed, quickness on explosion as much as other big guys, things that fade a bunch over time and usually faster with big fellas. He has great eyes, hands, strength, and body control, things that last a lot longer.

Assuming he stays healthy, we should get some all time great basketball out of him another 5+ years.

not many people take advanced stats for defense seriously

He’s capable of playing decent defense though.

The 90s Bulls were a good team, but you have to ask yourself

The 80s Celtics were a good team, but you have to ask yourself.

The Warriors were a good team, but you have to ask yourself.
