I would rather pay to watch McEnroe play in his prime than Sampras or Agassi. And it’s not even close. JPM in his prime was like watching a technical artist on the court.

I liked watching Mac but Sampras was the better overall player

If Mac would’ve worked nearly as hard as Sampras did you could say he was better player, but you can’t since he didn’t.

BS. He was a much better player than Agassi.

In his prime, probably could've taken Sampras.

Match Sampras who was the greatest server in the game ever in his Prime and Mac who had a great touch game I’ll take Sampras

Sampras did things at Wimbledon and US Open Mac didn’t do in his prime

I won’t count Australia because of its time played it hadn’t moved to January yet.

I grew up on Mac...so I'm not unbiased...but I also grew up on all the 80's and early 90's greats.

Of them all, to this day...Mac is the only one worth a rewatch.

Sampras was painful in the 90's - best ever - Fed was a bore too.

Mac...I don't know, it wasn't just the antics...it was his tennis...you knew he wasn't the best overall tennis player out there - but when with his serve and when he rushed the net - you knew genius could happen.

Mac was always the anticipation of the unexpected.

McEnroe had the most skill. The racquets and balls helped Agassi and Sampras. You had to be a power player in that era.

I prefer Mac also.

It was a different era and style of play. Sampras came into the game when it was shifting towards high-tech rackets, and everything became power oriented. McEnroe, Conners, Lendl and Borg played with wooden rackets, and the game was a craft. You couldn't sit back and line a forehand past someone on the baseline back then.
