Dude is batting .316 over the last week... it's not like he's turned into 2013 BJ "Melvin" Upton all of a sudden.

That said, the Reds are not good, and he'll likely have to suffer on some pretty bad teams to finish out that deal. Unless he's traded.

the Reds need to trade him for some prospects. Eat some of his contract in the process, more than likely, but i wouldnt wait too long.

He has a no trade clause but it sounds like he is tired of losing more than sucking.

Nah this is just him and how he thinks. He will be fine because he works his arse off and is just an absolute fricking natural at the plate.

The Good-
Votto finished 3rd last season in MVP voting, an award he won in 2010.
Paired with the 2011 & 2013 seasons, that was the 4th time he finished in the Top 6 in MVP voting since 2010. Career OBP .412
No Trade clause, only$ 75K bonus for each All-Star game, and the team has the club buy out option in 2024 for $7 million

The Bad-
32 year old Votto has 194/645
26 year old Stanton has 189/486
24 year old Trout has 144/412
23 year old Harper has 106/272

Votto's contract probably looks the best of all the high dollar contracts. He has a skill set that ages well and the per year numbers don't even look that bad in 2016, in 2022 it will be bad at all.
