Joe Paterno retiring is officially the saddest thing about this whole story.

We love you, Joe Pa! Thanks for 60 years of CLASS!

Paterno should be kicked out now. What an arrogant bastard he is to tell the board of trustees they have nothing to do now, that he will resign at the end of the year. What a travesty and an insult to the victims and their families if he is on the sidelines or in the coaching booth Saturday. I would like for the NCAA, if it could, to give Penn State football the death penalty.

Instead of a blue out why not stay away if this a-hole is allowed to coach. You can do all the cute gestures you want to but the university you represent allowed innocent children to be raped and blue outs, white outs, nothing can change that fact. Someone or some group, say the trustees need to get off of their arse and make some strong starements and firings fast. That will get attention, more than a bunch of stupid fans wearing the same colored shirt hoping for forgiveness from sexually assaulted kids

WDE, I have to thank you for being one of the few level headed people posting in this thread. It's a lose lose for PSU students and alumni. Wear blue, get attacked. I've sent the university emails which is all I can do. Some people in this thread are being unreasonable and painting an entire fan base based upon a group of idiot freshman is absurd.

If so, frick them. Fans should do a walk out or no show if Paterno is coaching.

However, there is absolutely no way in hell the BOT can let Paterno represent the school on national tv by coaching this weekend. He is out by week's end (and probably day's end), IMO.

Sorry, but the last 13 years pretty much wipes out the first 47

I don't blame the players, students, alumni or anyone not involved (including the BOT) and they deserve a chance to respond as best they can at this point.

I'd also keep in mind that Joe has been coaching from the press box pretty much the entire season. The only reason I could possibly see him going to the sidelines for the game this week would be because it's Senior Day and this will be his last home game ever.

I kinda blame the BOT.

Why didn't they call an emergency meeting and get this settled? Waiting to address it until they have their regular monthly meeting this Friday?

That doesn't make it any better. He shouldn't be allowed near the program anymore.

Complete BS. Anyone who knew about this and did not report it to the cops should not only be fired immediately, but charged with something. I could care less if Penn State didn’t have one coach on the sideline to coach (feel bad for the innocent players) but that’s the coaches fault. The ones that knew and did nothing and thus allowed it to continue are only one notch below the POS rapist.

If JP or anyone else knew of this and did not go to the police, fire them this minute, f*** how long they’ve been there. F**** retiring gracefully. F*** giving him a send off. F*** giving him any kind of recognition for anything else done. Tell them not to step on campus again and their shite will be waiting at the front gate for them. HOW DO YOU CONTINUE TO SUPPORT SOMEONE WHO ALLOWED A CHILD RAPIST TO BE AROUND YOUR ORGANIZATION AND KIDS.

Ask the innocent kids that were raped and f****ed up in the head for the rest of their life their thoughts on this.

They have been in contact and had emergency conference calls, but there are a lot of moving parts and the admins whose responsibility this is are caught up in it. I am willing to give the board a few days to try to sort the moving parts out and make the right decision.

Not to mention that board members are likely spread out across the state and country.

If they let McQueary and Paterno coach, I will not be as reserved or magnanimous toward the BOT.

Didn't Mike and Mike say since it is a public university, they have to, by law, give notice or some shite like that. I am consumed, along with sicken and outraged, by this story.

I like how everyone is saying "I want to hear from Joe Pa before I pass judgement". WTF is he going to say that is going to make you think "oh, well that makes it better". Do people honestly believe he wont lie?

I would almost bank on him coaching until the end of the season. I think the attorney general not coming after him is a huge reason why he's going to coach the rest of the season.

The Board of Trustees are meeting tonight at 7:00.

Their email address is bot@psu.edu

I suggest you email them and let them know that you support Joe Pa and will be outraged if they try and mandate his resignation before the end of the season. I sent my email this morning and got a nice "thank you for the support" response from the Secretary Treasurer.
