sure he deserves a lot of blame a d could of done more but hindsight is 20/20. Easy for us to sit back and say what we "would" have done knowing what we k ow as opposed to what Joe Pa knew at the time.
He deserved what to be removed as HC, but doesn't deserve all of the blame put on him. Some of this stuff is just over the top. He did deserve to be replaced though.

and yes it should all be on mcquery since he saw the incident and didn't do anything right when he saw it.
You obviously don't know what it is to be a leader, a person of power.
So, in your opinion, the President of the US shouldn't be accountable for what happens under his watch.

It is amazing that Ohio State fans are defending Joe Paterno. But I think they are right.
frick Penn State! I think, I might have posted this in the thread 4/5 hours ago, but Penn State is at fault.
I grew up pulling for Penn State, but they threw a 75/80 year old man under the bus to cover all of their shite. Penn State knew and investigated Sandusky years before Paterno was told, they did nothing and are still covering their arse.

People that keep bringing McQueary when discussing JoePa's role in this amuse me.
The fact that McQueary looked the other way does not make JoePa any less guilty, people.

McQueary was the only one that told Paterno what happened. Both Paterno & McQueary have stated that he didn't tell him all the details.
McQueary told, based on their quotes/testimony-
Paterno one thing, the AD & VP another, his father's friend another, and emailed another version to his friends. And 8 years later finally told the police.

I guess the situation is sad but the truth remains paterno was a sandusky enabler. Kids could have been saved had jp acted earlier. But he kept the molestor on his staff. Damn right he should have done more. A thousand times more. This was no small oversight and paterno has this as his legacy now.

Quit excusing JoePa for being unclear about what happened in the 2002 incident. Sandusky had already had several documented incidents involving boys in the 90s. Why do you think he was no longer a coach there? JoePa knew about them. You mean to tell me he didn't know why his most trusted assistant abruptly left his program with prime years left in his career? And why no other program showed so much as a sniff of interest in hiring him? So, in 2002, when McQeary comes to him about the shower incident JoePa has no earthly idea what he's talking about? C'mon...

The students standind at his statue last night with temperatures in the teens.....
It is sickening to see the cult that has evolved up there.

accountability and responsibility are two different things.
Posted on 1/22/12 at 7:08 am to Philosoraptor
and why aren't you blaming the cops who have investigated this man before in the 90's.
instead you blame a 85 yr old man who should have been remmoved from his coaching position 20 years ago

I don't hold JoePa in contempt just for enabling and sheltering a child rapist. JoePa is the epitome of the sanctimonious, holier-than-thou Big 10 football figure. He made the famous statement, "I won't leave college football to the Jackie Sherrills and Barry Switzer of the world." But when he had a few subpar seasons and the heat was rising, what did he do? Brought in a QB with troubles with the law. And the alleged crime? You guessed it, sexual assault.
Face it, JoePa apologists. When push came to shove between preserving his legacy and doing the right thing, JoePa always acted in JoePa's best interests. He's a hypocrite and a coward.

Lol. Was it JoePa's fault the university still granted him access to the school after 1998? Did JoePa keep Sandusky @ his charity after 98 which gave him access to kids? Did JoePa force UPD to end their investigation? Did Joe Pa hook Sandusky up @ a high school with kids in a room alone or make phones to the kids for him? Did JoePa let him have little kids in the basement? Did JoePa force the media to not blowup the story in 98? Did JoePa force the minimum wage janitor to not report what he saw? JoePa failed but he is no more an enabler than the University, the cops, the janitor or the high school and wife. All those share the same amount of blame if not more. RIP JoePa

How is he any different than Saban, Meyer, Miles, Tressel, or any other coach or person for that matter? I have a feeling that @ your job if someone was doing or had done something against company policy no matter the severity of the infraction you haven't snitched for fear of losing your job or being labeled a snitch. You would care about only yourself as well. That would make you a terrible employee and a coward.
