OMG...

Yes assaulting a student/athlete is against the rules as well as a crime...

Just a little sarcasm RULZ. Trying to make a point to DIPSHIT Sprint that what Tressel did is much worse for the school than what Woody did.

BTW How is BLUE???? Tell her PJ says howdy.

At least Woody had the excuse of it being a heat of the moment thing. Tressel had months to decide on whether to tell the NCAA (if not his university) before he certified that he had informed them of any potential violations.

so heat of the moment stupidity vs. cold, calculated decision to cheat?

I'd think the moment of stupidity (depending on the crime) is better then what tressel did.

People conveniently forget that the tattoo shop owners are now under federal indictment for drugs and money laundering. Tressel know about his players' dealings with these unsavory characters and covered it up for a long time (the federal investigation has been going on for at least as long has Tressel's cover up--that's not a coincidence, IMO), and I think that the timing of his resignation is linked to the announcement of the indictment along with this "big story" that is forthcoming from SI.

And yes, covering up your players' interaction with drug dealing felons is much, much worse than losing your cool and decking a kid.

What about the tat5? Tressell made them skip the draft and come back for their senior season even though they were suspended but then he resigned.

Why make the players come back if he won't?

Why does Fickell get a free pass and not have to resign?

Because he wasn't going to leave. This only happened recently.

https://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/30/tressel-encouraged-to-resign-for-good-of-the-program/

quote:

According to the Columbus Dispatch, which broke the story on Tressel’s resignation, the now-former head coach was “encouraged” to resign by unnamed individuals. It’s unclear precisely who those individuals were, but the talk of Tressel stepping down for the good of the program had reportedly commenced several weeks ago.

quote:

“I’m told it is likely my SI mag story will be posted at SI.com later today/tonight. Timing of Tress dec. will make sense after you read it,” Dorhmann wrote on his Twitter account shortly after news of Tressel’s resignation broke. Dohrmann went on to write that a statement by OSU officials that the “Board and President Gee consider this matter unrelated to the media” is “bs“.

Looks like we'll have to see how badly the article was toward Tressel to see if it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

CORRECT. The whole coaching staff should be gone and they should start from scratch. I say DEATH PENALTY. Ohio State is BIG to the NCAA but a message should be sent regardless. Tressel and his 5 thugs thought they were ABOVE the NCAA.

It very well could be.

quote:

Additionally, a feature by Sports Illustrated senior writer/pit bull George Dohrmann has been in the works for weeks and is said to be very damning and damaging to the OSU football program in general and Tressel specifically. While it’s unclear what new details, if any, Dorhmann unearthed, OSU officials were reportedly given a sneak peek into the piece late last week.

And then Tressel "resigns" the day before it comes out? I'd assume it's bad enough to where they couldn't keep him around by either confirming many rumors or even more stuff he didn't disclose.

The buzz is making it sound like it will be worse than Tressle covering up major violations and knowingly playing ineligible players....I can't wait.
