USC was a 45pt favorite over Washington St. and managed to win by a pedestrian 20 points, and from what I recall didn't score in the second half.

So you base your rankings on "maybes" and "most likely nos"

Sounds like a great ranking system.

Right NOW there is ZERO case for ranking USC ahead of LSU. NONE.

Yeah there is. They're simply better, and have a win over a top 10 team on the road.

Like when we racked up 330 yards of offense against ULL?

So, base your rankings on who you THINK is better as opposed to what teams are actually doing on the field?

Yea, I guess you can make a case, albeit a very dumb one.

USC manages to get back into the top 10 only 1 week after it drops an egg to Washington.

Iowa has a far better win on their resume than LSU and is undefeated as well. Why is this unreasonable? The USC part, I do not agree on.

USC starting QB isn't a complete stud now anyways. There is no reason to necessarily speculate that USC could have won that night with him.

USC hasn't looked dominant and actually have lost.

LSU is winning the games and that is all that matters if they want to contend for a NC.

Transitive? fricking TRANSITIVE? Stanford > USC then too... and Wake Forest

The fricking eyeball test. LSU's OL and D look like shite against weak competition and they're lucky to be undefeated. Moo State outplayed them but the flukes were on LSU's side. USC still has a great OL and D and they're 2-0 with my man Barkley, who while not that good, probably wouldn't have fricked up that Washington game the way Corp did.

If LSU and USC played on a neutral site nobody would confidently bet $ on LSU.

This is exactly what is wrong with so many people's analysis of that game. The holder dropped 4 points. He was also the punter and missed a snap. Instead of taking a safety he ran around like an idiot at the 1.

You can only even argue one of the Miss St turnovers as unforced.

The fact is Miss St was only in the game because they gave them points off of completely unforced errors.

I said playmakers, and LSU has loads of them. Just because Jefferson and the OLine are struggling right now, doesn't mean it will always be so.

So they still lost.

I wouldn't bet on LSU as well, BUT that is NOT what its about!! LSU is 4-0 and USC is 3-1!!! AND USC lost to a team LSU beat. There is NO way the pollsters are going to put USC ahead of LSU!! Like I said its pretty simple.

tOSU looked very bad and mediocre for most of their MNC season in 2002, and went on to win EVERY game. They struggled against really bad team after really bad team, but found a way to win, and won in different ways.

This isn't to say LSU will win an MNC this year, but the have talent just like USC did that is just underachieving in how they win, but not underachieving in getting the W's.

LSU has shown they can effectively run, pass, and play defense and special teams well. The problem is they haven't done all of these things all in one game. Their worst team played (ULL) is twice as good as either of Bama's 2nd and 3rd opponents and LSU won by 28 even with a pedestrian play by the offense.

MSU shut down a very talented rushing attack in Vanderbilt and now LSU. Why is that? Auburn has a great rushing attack, but one game doesn't mean that MSU can't stop the run. Hell LSU had one of the top rushing defenses in the nation in 2006 and couldn't stop Arkansas from getting near 300 yards rushing.

Auburn so far is an anomaly for MSU. I think that we'll see improved play by LSU next week, but how improved and if its enough to beat UGA is the question.

which was worse:
losing to washington or only beating wash st by 21 and not scoring in the 2nd half? how are they at 7 and ranked ahead of OU? blows my mind.
