Because they were all part of the same trafficking ring preying on kids??? A guy who is an abuser was enabled by a network of pedophiles and accomplices. Epstein didn't kill himself in basically the same scenario.
Plus there were a few state officials/attorneys who investigated claims but did nothing for years and mysteriously died right around 2011 when this came to light. How does one escape prosecution for abuse repeatedly if they're not getting help to hide from law enforcement?

quote:Too big to fail is a shitty excuse to allow criminals to run free.
It's criminal they still have a school.
I know this is the cool and edgy thing to say, but it’s a bad take.
You don’t bulldoze billions of dollars of assets, hundred year old buildings, all the while telling 40,000 students and thousands of staff to kick rocks and find a new way of life. You also frick over anybody who has a business in State College. Taxpayer funded infrastructure for the university? frick it…destroy it. Donor funded buildings? Destroy it. That’s a very emotional take.
quote:The school should have been shut down before the current students were even born.
If you want to hate the 18-22 on Penn State for something that happened over 20 years ago and came to light 13 years ago, great. Personally, I’m not going to dislike them any more than I normally would, as none of these players were born when Sandusky was doing his shite.
quote:If that were the case, I would agree with you. But this conspiracy appeared to reach far beyond the football program and even beyond the reaches of the university. With Sandusky's running of the 2nd Mile program, who knows how far this pedophile ring reached.
Penn State had awful leadership. But to essentially wipe a town off the map because of the actions of a few
I believe the university was completely complicit in covering it all up until it leaked out.
I believe Paterno was told to shut up and coach football. He made the statement that soon the truth would come out. Not long after that, he "conveniently" died. And the truth was buried with him, allowing the university and all involved to contain the story within the football program.
The school should have been shut down, or at the very least de-funded and relegated to a private school. The fact that the state continues to fund it is as big a travesty as the feeble attempt into a real investigation. But we all know why that didn't happen. Too many powerful people would have been implicated.

I'm not sure how the entire program can be blamed for the actions of one waste of oxygen.
