so greatness is determined by how well you play in the early year, not how you progress in your final season?

Brilliant!!!

What?

Capitalize a made up entity and that makes it real?

Wait, or is the new God called "But?"

I'm confused now.

People definitely take their hatred to a different gear with JR. It's almost as bad as the Jefferson hate.
People like that strike me as abusive types, so maybe channeling their anger through football is ultimately a good thing.

Great for a career?

Career. Career. Career.

"Great" is an over abused word.

JR was great with the drink, not the football.

I've long since said on this board and gotten a good bit of opposition to it that those types simply cannot be happy with their lives. They just can't be.

sucked arse @ AU and @ FL. Go back and look at the last minute of the AU game.

UF was his worst game, every qb has a them. the Aub game was completely on Les and Jimbo. When they actually let him throw late in the game, LSU moved the ball. And yeah in the last minute of the game he threw the ball on the money and his WR got tackled before the ball got there.

No, but those two games against elite competition proved what a football idiot he was/is.

JR couldn't be the man his sophomore year and struggled in games his third year. Yeah, great career. He underachieved. That's his life.

I don't find myself defending Russell often, but holy shite this is ridiculous. He's the best LSU QB of the Miles era, and there really isn't a close second.

His 2006 season bests every other LSU's QB since. Unless you want to combine Lee and Jefferson in to "one QB", he's the only QB under Miles to lead LSU to back to back double digit reg-season wins (05 and 06)

Flynn gets a ton of acclaim because of the National Title. However, that NC came about as a confluence of events not seen before or since (only 2 loss national champ in something like 50 years). Plus, he lost to an unnranked team (at home) and good but not great UK team during that season. In 2006 Russell led LSU to a 10-2 season that featured a schedule with 4 road games ALL against teams ranked in the top 10 at the time. The 2 losses that year were to an AU team that finished 10-2 and a Florida team that won the national title. It's hard to remember LSU playing a more brutal road schedule in the last 15 years.

His pro career was a disaster, but that doesn't take away from the fact that his two years as a full time starter at LSU were some of the best seasons in the last 25 years

I would say they lost. Flynn didn't lose those games by himself. Defense could have easily won the Arkansas game. JaMarcus was a good college quarterback. I'm not sure why it angers people that he threw his career away but that's what he did. I don't see him getting another chance.

Flynn against Kentucky:
17/35 130 yards, 1 TD 1 INT

Flynn against Arkansas:
22/47 209 yards 3 TD

Flynn was terrible in both games
