Calvin Peete didn’t pick up a golf club until he was in his 20s. He then won 12 times on the PGA tour in the 70 and early 80s

That’s laughable to think about happening today

And why would having less room for error be a negative thing for Tiger and Rory?

Rory would benefit more than anyone off the tee if they rolled back the equipment the 60s

Props for working in Rory in a Jack vs Tiger debate Well done.

I also worked in Wyndham…..

The point is equipment changes aren’t equal across the board. Changes jn equipment benefit some more than others. The elite of the elite are usually the ones not benefited as much

I agree. They both were a step above the rest in their eras, I think it's safe to say both would have done the same with different equipment and same competition.

I'm referring to the technology Tiger had in his prime as opposed to what Jack played with. It's not even close. No old timers were hitting 300 yard drives or using 8 irons 180 out. You're missing the point.

Im not missing the point. But your argument is crap. Jack and Tiger both played against the same technology that their peers had. comparing technologies of different era's is equally as foolish as comparing players in different era's.

One thing no one has mentioned in this debate that I could find so far is the emphasis Tiger placed on physical fitness. He was amongst the first to really embrace weights and weight training and it made a huge difference. Hell, when I played for the UGA golf team and as a professional in the 90s, weight training was a foreign concept. Muscling up was thought to hinder the golf swing.

Not in golf. Different skills are being rewarded as opposed to even 30 years ago with the changes in equipment. The great golfers today are better at the skills they’re being asked to master, but that skill is not the same one they were asking about pre 2000ish

If Tom Watson can damn near win the British Open at 59, Tiger has a shot to make 1 run in the next decade at Augusta.

I want to breathe that fire again.

So dumb to say “it’s not a debate” when it’s quite obviously a very common debate

Jack had the good fortune of staying healthy.

A non-injury plagued Tiger would’ve had 18 majors 10 years ago.

Jack is great, but Tiger played the best golf in the history of the game from 1999-2009.

Also consider that Tiger dominated the sport while being a global icon and juggling a wife and dozens of girlfriends.

By good fortune do you mean staying off the dope, alcohol and hookers? Tiger did it to himself

The wreck didn’t cause his back issues that forced him to get his spine fused.

Tiger was player of the year in 2013….then the back issues started
