also as noted in this thread multiple times TG played against several more higher ranked run defenses than Alabama did that season.

For starters the post you mentioned conveniently left out Florida and Texas who were left off. Both were top 12 rush defense. Virginia Tech also fit in the top 50 category and South Carolina was 52

Was about to say George Rogers over Herschel in 1980. Rogers had 23 more rushing attempts and about 170 more yards while Herschel managed more TDs and an almost identical YPA en route to winning the national title as a freshman.

Charlie Trippi was also robbed of a Heisman in 1946 when Glenn Davis of Army won it. Trippi played QB, RB, and Safety and UGA went undefeated and won the sugar bowl. Trippi won the Maxwell for that season.

Archie Griffins second Heisman is easily the biggest joke.

Gino Torretta over Marshall Faulk

Garrison Hearst was probably more deserving than. Org on an individual basis (unfortunately UGA crapped the bed in 92 and missed the inaugural SECCG by a game). Hearst had 4 more rushing TDs than faulk (19) and added 2 more receiving for 21 total and averaged 6.8 YPC (Faulk had 6.2).

Faulk only had Hearst beat in yards with 1630 to 1547 but did so on 37 more carries.

Either way Torretta shouldn’t have beat either

Derrick Rose's MVP trophy should be inscribed with "Not Lebron Again" instead of his name.

Torretta shouldn’t won? His was career award basically and he was unbeaten for 2 years. Revisionist history again. Faulk has a complaint but Gino was deserving.

Henry only had 52 yards against ULM...........yes ULM.....your Heisman winner had 52 yards on 13 carries against ULM...........and it wasnt that he didnt play either.

I think he only played one series in the second half.

Exactly.

No one wins the Heisman piling it up on ULM.

Or Arizona State, Cal or Arizona, either.

Did Crouch have a bad game like Grossman did v Lsu in 2002? The Tigers hammered Florida at the Swamp, 36-7. I was there. That game cost him

He got the year wrong. Grossman got hosed in 2001

Gerhart was good in every game he played.

Ingram was held to under 100 yards like 3 times IIRC, including getting absolutely held in check for the entirety of the Auburn game. A bad game that late usually dooms a candidate, but Alabama still won so they gave it to him.

2009 Indy started the season 14-0 and Peyton had the MVP locked up? Then Peyton played sparingly the last 2 games and they went 14-2.

Could be remembering wrong. Sometimes its not all about stats.

The Alabama team that claimed a national title the year they:

1) lost at home during conference play to the team they played for the national “title”
2) didn’t win their division (because the team they played for the national “title” beat them on their home field)
3) didn’t play for their conference championship (because they lost in conference play on their home field to the team they played for the national “title)
