It’s stupid players get suspended for targeting

Dumb as frick. It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to see and decipher if a player was trying to commit a criminal act on a player (which literally never happens) or if someone’s helmet accidentally lowers or raises to unfortunately match up to the other helmet trying the penalty and the suspension. Make the penalty 20 yards if you want to be all crazy about it but suspension and more specifically double suspension is stupid af.

I always thought targeting was to protect the targeter - at least as much as it is to protect the targeted.

Because the 15 yards didn’t reduce the occurrence of said foul enough.

Targeting has always required an ejection since the foul was created in 2013

It’s trying to protect the leagues and organizations
That’s all it is. Something to save face for when ex players try to sue the nfl
