I see a ton of swings and misses as well as a lot of corners getting painted. You think the umpires gave a single team better strike zones but only for the pitchers?

players reputation does have an effect on the umps both pitchers and batters

fact is the braves pitchers killed and ate innocent children to harness dark powers

That was a Dick move but in fairness, players aren't obligated to sign autographs.

He has the widest plate in baseball. It was comical how wide that zone was.

I feel pretty certain 1999-2000 Pedro was the greatest pitcher of my lifetime, but Maddux was obviously phenomenal and had the better overall career.

The greatest pitchers in my lifetime, in their prime, in no particular order:

Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Roger Clemens, Pedro, and Scherzer.

I can't disagree here. He was absolute filth.

Nolan Ryan might beat alot of those guys with longevity and durability, but no way his peak was better than Pedro’s or most of those guys.

Also, I have a ton of fricking respect for Max Scherzer, but peak Kershaw > peak Scherzer.

Maddux 92-98’

190 ERA+
54.7 WAR
2.59 FIP

Pedro 97-2003

213 ERA+
57.3 WAR
2.26 FIP

A note on the WAR. Maddux pitched 267 more innings than Pedro. WAR, of course, is a stat that accumulates with more games played.

I know what WAR is.

But Maddux was still better. Now like someone else said 99-2000 Pedro was the best player on the planet, but overall,Maddux was better.

I still don’t know how the Braves didn’t win more World Series in the 90s

You can blame the hitters for that.

Maddux, Glavine, & Smoltz , in 21 World Series starts, only had a combined record of 8-8 even though they had a combined ERA of 2.26.

They had the following stats in the World Series:

.................W-L...GS....IP.....ERA...WHIP
Maddux......2-3....5....38.2....2.09...0.905
Glavine.......4-3....8....58.1....2.16...0.909
Smoltz........2-2....8....51.0....2.47...1.275

It wasnt the pitching of their big 3 that cost them rings.

I almost put Kershaw in there but his playoff fails kept me from doing it. I’m sure he’s heartbroken over it
